Beloved husband of Mary Lou (Razaire) of 55 loving years; proud father of Richard, Jr. (Janis), Randy (Marcy) and the late Ronald (Lynne); dear grandfather of Shelby, Lauren, Logan, Austin, Jacey and Colton; brother of Pat (Bob) Konyha and Barb (Rick) Naleppa. Rich retired after 34 years with US Airways, as an aircraft mechanic. He enjoyed family and friends, going to camp, golfing, hunting and was a well-known bargain shopper. KALAS-HESTER DORIS M. (CRANSTON) Age 85, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, August 6, 2015, at Transitions Health Care in North Huntingdon. She was born September 30, 1929, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Harry and Ruth Jones Cranston. Doris began her career as an elevator operator for the former Joseph Horne Co. of Pittsburgh, then moved into the men's sales department and retired with over 37 years of service. Doris will always be remembered as a kind person who made friends with everyone she met. She enjoyed her family and co-workers. Doris appreciated and loved everyone in her life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Kalas; a brother, James Cranston; and her dear friend and companion, Bernie Spilecki. Surviving are a son, Robert "Rocky" Kalas and his wife, Cathie of North Huntingdon; three grandsons, Robert, Andrew and Michael Kalas; a sister-in-law, Phyllis Cranston of Maryland; and her beloved pet dog, Foxy. She was born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 2, 1922, to the late Roy C. and Frona M. (Kirsopp) Smith. On Aug. 23, 1997, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Harry James Brown, Jr. Loving mother of Dianne Merckle (Charles) of New Matamoras, OH and Gordon S. Brown (Betty) of Gibsonia; cherished grandmother of David Merckle; sister of Shirley Price of Bradenton, FL. Edith was a member of the Blackburn United Methodist Church and Robin Hill Homemakers. WILLIAMS SUSAN C. Age 63, died on August 3, 2015. The cause of death was complications from ocular melanoma. Susan was the daughter of the late David Anthony Williams and the late Carrie Williams of McMurray, Pennsylvania and Nokomis, Florida. Valedictorian of her class at Peters Township High School, she went on to earn her undergraduate degree at Carnegie Mellon University and a Master's from the University of Pittsburgh. She had a profound influence on many young people as an English teacher and a school counselor in the Franklin Regional School District for more than 35 years. Upon retirement, she moved to Venice, Florida. She was a world traveler, an excellent cook, and a trivia player second to none. Most of all, she will be remembered for her dedication to the students she served, her loyalty as a friend, her generosity, and her kindness. She is survived by her beloved companion of 30 years, George Steitz; the "PT Girls"; cousins, and many devoted friends. Deep gratitude is extended to the outstanding medical staff of Thomas Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia. McCORMACK DAVID L. Age 73, residing in Columbus, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015, at his home. David was born on October 3, 1941, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. LOGAN DONALD “DUTCH” “RED” Donald "Dutch" or "Red" Logan was born October 5, 1929, and passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2015, as he was returning home from a lengthy hospital stay. Dutch was born, lived and died in the Monroeville/Pitcairn area, the first child of Rachel (Hott) and Harry Logan. When asked about his work, he always replied, "You name it, I did it." He bought a truck and started his own business hauling coal at 18, and worked on the Union Railroad, but he spent most of his life building homes in Monroeville and working as a union cement finisher. Dutch married Gloria Arcolli (deceased 2011) in 1950, and together they raised four children who will miss him greatly. They are Paula (Fran) Daily, Donna (Paul) Meitzler, Donald (Sue), and Kevin (Rhonda). He was the beloved and extremely proud grandfather of five and great- grandfather of six. He is also survived by brothers, Harry (Carole) Logan and Wade (Marilyn) Logan; and in-laws, Norma and Mike Corletti and Marge Logan; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Joyce; and brothers, Larry and Bruce. The family wishes to especially thank his loving caregivers, Theresa Anthony and Dolores Starkey, who cared for this "gruff bear of a guy" as though he were their own father. ALBRIGHT PEGGY “PEG” Age 66, of Blawnox, departed this life on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at UPMC St. Margaret Hospital, after a long struggle with multiple health issues. Preceded in death by her mother, Edie Sproul. Peggy was the devoted wife of her childhood sweetheart, Charles Albright, who passed away in 2011. Peggy's daughter, Kristy Hull, and her grandsons, Gabriel (9), Liam (4), and Julian (1) were the loves of her life, and she was unflinchingly devoted to their success and happiness. As a member of Blawnox's own Sproul Family, Peggy leaves behind her father, William; along with three brothers, Fred, Thom, and Norman; and a sister, Nancy Bifulco. Peggy was a talented artist, working in mediums such as jewelry, stained glass, and paints. She was passionate about her house and hometown, and worked tirelessly to keep Blawnox the kind of town in which she grew up. She spent a lifetime helping her neighbors while working in her father's tiny store in the Bottoms of Blawnox. She leaves behind too many family members and friends to list, but her departure leaves a huge hole in the hearts of those who knew her well. Visitation at THOMAS M. GARBART DOROTHY M. (THORNTON) Age 98, of Fombell, formerly of West View, passed away on Thursday, July 30 2015, while under the care of Creek Meadows Senior Guest Haus in Franklin Township. Born February 7, 1917, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Marie (Herman) Thornton. Dorothy was a longtime faithful member of the North Hills United Presbyterian Church in West View and was also an active member of the AARP and New Beginnings. She loved crocheting and made numerous lap robes for a local nursing facility and enjoyed playing Bridge. Dorothy will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Marilyn Heintz of McCandless Township; her daughter-in-law, Marilyn M. Garbart of Fombell; her five grandchildren, Lisa Mottshaw, Kelli Wild, Alison Yerkins, Jason Heintz and Gwen Haden; and her nine great-grandchildren, Casey, Jenna, Nicole, Hannah, Leah, Kendall, Loughran, Zachary and Cody. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, George William Garbart; her son, William T. Garbart; and her two sisters, Shirley Myers and Jane Ward. A Memorial Service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2015, at the North Hills United Presbyterian Church, 100 Bellevue Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15229, with Rev. H.
