PAWLAK SISTER M. CLAIRE (ANNA) A member of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth for 86 years, died, November 6, 2015, at age 101. A native of Gallitzin, PA, she taught in Ohio, Pennsylvania and Michigan for 61 years. For 15 of those years, Sister served in Dillonvale, OH as teacher and principal and, in the same parish, St. Hyacinth, as sacristan and Eucharistic minister for another 15 years. She is survived by sisters, Emma Russino of Altoona and Pauline Mandichak of Gallitzin; and nieces and nephews. DUNBAR PATRICIA (McELROY) Of Providence Point, formerly of Mt. Lebanon, entered the presence of her Lord, Jesus Christ whom she loved and served, on Thursday, November 5, 2015. Born March 18, 1938, in Oak Park, IL, she was the only child of Emerson and Jane (Sims) McElroy and grew up in Bellevue. She was the great- great-granddaughter of Harmar DeHaven, Mayor of the City of Allegheny in 1857. Patricia was a graduate of Wheaton College and received a degree in Psychology from Roosevelt University in Chicago, doing her internship at Elgin State Hospital Cook County, Illinois. After returning to Pittsburgh, she was a clinical psychologist at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for several years before getting married. She served for 40 years with Stonecroft Ministries as a regional administrator and was previously PTA President at Washington Elementary and Mellon Junior High in Mt. Lebanon. Mrs. Dunbar was active in the Historic First Presbyterian Church, downtown and with her husband went on Mission trips several times to Russia, Ukraine and Ecuador. She also served on the national board of directors for more than 30 years with Scripture Union/USA. A committed Christian, Pat's life was dedicated to sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ with others. Beloved wife for 50 years of Robert E. Dunbar; devoted mother of David Wesley (Teri) of Indianapolis, IN, Timothy Dehaven (Jennifer) of Woodbury, MN and Stephen Wells (Kristen) Dunbar of Mt. KELLY CHARLES R. 80, of Richland Township, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 8, 2015.He was born in Pittsburgh on March 7, 1935 to the late Charles J. & Mary Hart Kelly and graduated from St. Canice High School. Served with the US Air Force for four years, then received a BS degree in electrical engineering from Carnegie Tech. Charles was a representative for Hewlett-Packard, RIDC Park for 25 years, retiring in 2000. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his son and others, was a motorcycle enthusiast, and enjoyed boating and water and snow skiing. Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Cynthia Ann Gracey Kelly; children, Susan L.Smouse and Charles R. Kelly Jr., both of Murrysville; step-daughter, Jennifer (Christopher) Hayward of Franklin Park; his step granddaughters, Remington Grace “Remi” Hayward and Winchester Ann “Winni” Hayward; and his sister, Carol Lever of Knoxville. SHIELDS SISTER CARITA, SC Age 82, died at her convent, Fidelis House, in Greensburg, on Sunday, November 8, 2015. Born in Pittsburgh, Sister Carita entered the congregation of the Sisters of Charity on September 8, 1955, from St. Anselm parish, Swissvale. Preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Flora (Desmond) Shields; a brother, Hugh E.; and two sisters, Elizabeth Shields Lydon and Kathleen Shields Walter. She is survived by a brother, Terrence R.; a sister, Mrs. Mary Lou (Robert) Kost; nieces and nephews. She earned a Bachelor's degree in education from Seton Hill University and a Master's degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh. Sister Carita taught students in schools of the dioceses of Greensburg, Phoenix, Pittsburgh and the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. She was principal at Holy Cross School in Youngwood from 1968-1978, at Holy Innocents School in Sheraden from 1978-1982, and at St. Therese School in Munhall from 1982-1987. She served as a developmental reading teacher and guidance counselor at Seton LaSalle High School until 1994. She began ministry as bookkeeper and later payroll manager at the Administrative offices of the Sisters of Charity, a position she held from 1994, until her death. Dedicated and hardworking, she also maintained warm relationships and celebrated life with family, friends and co-workers. Sister Carita said, at the time of her golden jubilee, "I've had 50 years of peace and contentment. Even though there have been a few bumps in the road, if I had it to do over again, I'd choose the same - borrowing the title of the movie, 'It's a Wonderful Life.'" He was born on September 27, 1919, in Philadelphia, PA, a son of the late John and Grace (Burns) Peirce. He was a 1938 graduate of Frankford High School and a 1961 graduate of Drexel University with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering. Joe worked for RCA from 1941 until 1982 with a break for military service in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was married for 71 years to Dorothy "Dot" Peirce, who passed away in December 2013. He was the father of Joan Bell, Deborah Pietras, Robert Peirce, and Lois Marquardt; cherished grandfather of Fran Bell, Chip Bell, Christine Wilkens, Shawn Bell, John Bell, Robert Marquardt, and Brett Marquardt; great-grandfather of Christopher Krebs, Angelea Krebs, Garrett Bell, Asheley Bell, Brady Bell, and Devin Bell.
