SAULTERS JAMES "JIM" CLIFTON P...
SAULTERS JAMES "JIM" CLIFTON Passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2015, age 65, of McCandless Twp. Jim was a gentle, funny, kind-hearted man. He was a genuine and able outdoorsman, who could navigate whitewater, climb mountains, cross-country ski and tell a good story around a campfire with a wickedly wry sense of humor. His generous nature led him to quietly gift many of his possessions to those who admired them. Jim was born on February 22, 1950, and raised in Pittsburgh, moving to West Virginia to work for 20 years. He had recently returned to his boyhood home, where he passed away. After attending Peebles Elementary School, North Allegheny High School and Drexel University, Jim began his career as an inspector for a local food safety company. However, the desire for outdoor adventures led him to become a guide and a manager of Wilderness Voyageurs, a whitewater rafting company in Ohiopyle, PA. He later was employed by SuperValu, Inc. in Charleston, WV, where he oversaw distribution, safety and efficiency at their food warehouse facility. Recently he had been planning a long bicycle trip on his beloved recumbent bike as well as a canoe trip to Raystown. His mother, Grace Santmeyer Saulters; and his father, George Clifton Saulters, preceded him in death. He is survived by a nationwide network of good friends, who shared his love of the out of doors. Jim gave his volunteer time to restoring old railroad beds to bicycle trails. Contributions may be made in his name to Rails to Trails Conservancy, 2121 Ward Court, NW, 5th Floor, Washington, D.C. 20037. www.railstotrails.org, 1-866- 202-9788.
