GLENN WILLIAM BROMAN Age 77, of Mount Lebanon, PA, passed away on September 26, 2020, at Arden Courts Memory Care Community. He was born in McKeesport, PA on December 14, 1942, and is the son of the late Elmer and Catherine Broman (nee Llewellyn). He is survived by his wife Claudia, (nee Metzner) and his two children from a previous marriage to Francine Carlson; daughter, Lynn Marie Broman of Chesapeake, VA, and son, Paul William Broman of Bethel Park, PA. He is the eldest brother of Kerwin (Jane); Marsha (Antonio) Gutierrez, Elaine Scott and the late Wayne Broman. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and nephews. Glenn was a graduate of McKeesport High School and attended Pennsylvania State University, where he earned a B.S. degree in History in 1965. He was involved in several extracurricular activities that would help lay part of the foundation of his eventual career, including: membership in the “Hi-Y Club” and “Science Club” during his high school years. In his early years as a PSU undergraduate, he was a member of the “Intercollegiate Conference on Government” where he served as a delegate to the state convention in Harrisburg in 1962. Also as an undergrad, he was the Sports Editor for the McKeesport Campus' newspaper; a seasonal general laborer at United States Steel's Irvin Works; as janitor at the Agricultural Library at University Park; and as both the head of maintenance/grounds and camp counselor at Camp Lutherlyn in Prospect, PA. He completed his student teaching assignment at West Mifflin Area School District in the spring of 1965 and was hired a few months later by the Baldwin-Whitehall School District as a secondary teacher for Baldwin High School. A few of his early years at Baldwin included extracurricular work as an assistant director of the “Heatherettes.” While teaching at Baldwin High School, he enrolled in the master's program at the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned his Master of Arts in Education (Secondary Education) in 1969. Years later, he enrolled in Duquesne University's master's program and earned a Master of Arts in History in 1982. During his 32-year career at Baldwin, he taught grades 10 -12 and the subjects Social Science, Social Studies, American History, World Cultures, American Cultures and AP American history. Glenn retired in June of 1997. Glenn lived a full, rich life. He loved being a father, an uncle, and a brother. He had many interests, including a passion for history and keeping up with current events and he was an enthusiastic fan of Pitt and PSU as well as the Steelers and Penguins. Above all his interests was his love of music. He was a proud member of the bass section of the Bach Choir of Pittsburgh and its president for four years. His license plate even read “BACH GUY.” It was his love of music that brought his wife Claudia into his life while both were singing with the Berkshire Choral Festival. Singing in this Festival became an annual summer tradition for them. Glenn will be remembered for his kindness and thoughtfulness. He felt strongly about the needs of others and was a regular and generous contributor to numerous social causes. Glenn was also very well known for his spontaneous humor and had a knack for finding humor in an otherwise ordinary or embarrassing situation. While he struggled with Parkinson's Disease and Lewy Body Dementia during the last few years of his life, he never lost his sense of humor, often provoking peals of laughter by his caregivers. The family would like to give a special and very heartfelt “Thank You!” to the Arden Courts Memory Care Community and Vitas Hospice for their warm, professional, and exceptional care of Glenn. True to his love of ice cream, his caregivers could often liven him up with a large bowl of ice cream or a root beer float. So in memory of Glenn, please enjoy a large bowl of ice cream or a root beer float. JAMES B. DAILEY, JR. AGE 74, D...

JAMES B. DAILEY, JR. Age 74, died October 1, 2020. He was the son of the late James and Mary Dailey and brother of Margret Erb of Naples, FL. He grew up on the North Side of Pittsburgh where his dad was a beloved captain with the Pittsburgh Fire Department. Over the years his children have heard many stories of tomfoolery by him and his cousins during their formative years. After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Marine Corps to serve his country during the Vietnam War. He was in the Marines from 1965-1971 and was in-country for almost 2 years. His family would hear very little about his time during the war, but it was obvious his experiences changed him as only war could. Jim was eventually honorably discharged from the Marine Corps in September of 1971. In the summer of 1968, he met a woman at a dance that would sweep him off his feet. They dated for a short time before they married on September 27, 1969. He and his beloved wife, Charlene Dailey, were married for close to 30 years. Even though they divorced in 2000, they remained loving friends until the time of her death in January 2020. Jim and his wife raised three children in Upper St. Clair, PA (Melissa Beck, Amanda Dailey, and Jason Dailey). He spent a lot of his spare time helping coach and being a part of youth athletics. Jim was preceded in death by his daughter, Mandy, who passed away in 2010. People that knew Jim best would say that he was never quite the same after her passing. After moving from Pittsburgh to Bonita Springs, FL in 2009, Jim would spend his remaining years spoiling his grandchildren. Like many Vietnam veterans, Jim suffered with the mental and physical ailments that he endured because of the war. Most notably was his physical struggle from the effects of Agent Orange. However, in true marine fashion, he fought and lived an honorable life until his death. He will be dearly missed by his family: sister, Margret Erb and her children, William, Colleen, and Denny; daughter, Melissa Beck and her children, Carly and Rex; and lastly, Jason and Ashley Dailey and their four children, Janey, Emily, Jacob, and Nicholas; as well as many other family and friends. His family would like to thank the VA Hospital of Pittsburgh, especially the doctors and nurses in the ICU Step Down Unit and UPMC Family Hospice of Canterbury. You are all exemplary at your professions. Thank you for all you do. Semper Fi is the motto of the United States Marine Corps and translates to always faithful or always loyal. Jim did his best to embody this motto all throughout his life. He would quietly donate monthly to several veteran organizations. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a veteran charity of your choice. Friends welcome THURSDAY, October 8, 2020, WILLIAM SLATER II FUNERAL SERVICE, (412-563-2800) 1650 Greentree Road, Scott Twp. 15220 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial FRIDAY, October 9, 2020, at 10 a.m. S.S.
