HUDNALL KENNETH LEROY Born October 2, 1925, in Cedar Grove, Kanawha County, West Virginia, died at his home of 46 years in Ohio Township, Sewickley, PA, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was the 2nd oldest son of Preston Nimrod Hudnall and Irene M Cobb; and was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters, Imogene Carte, Preston Lionel Hudnall, Arthur Ray Hudnall, Jacqueline Adkins, Betty Ann Wilson, Robert G Hudnall, Paul R Hudnall, Herbert Terry Hudnall and Peggy Jane Hudnall. He joined the Army in 1943 and proudly served in the 13th Air Force in New Guinea and the Philippines in World War II. After the war, he earned his bachelor's degree at The Ohio State University, in Columbus, Ohio, where he met and later married his wife of 62 years, Gladys Leiser Hudnall. He came to Western PA in 1958 with the A&P Grocery chain as an office manager for the tri-state area, and later owned several businesses including Ken's Beer Distributor and Kenmik Construction Co. An avid outdoorsman, he helped start Little League baseball in Monroeville, was Cubmaster and Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts, was an avid hunter for many years, and was most happy spending time at his farm in Vowinckel, PA and was an enthusiastic woodcarver and craftsman. He was a longtime member at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perrysville, PA. He is survived by his wife; and six children, Kenneth Michael and wife, June, of Boston, Diana Lynn McCloskey and husband, Chuck, of Chicago, David Nelson and wife, Melissa, of Coraopolis PA, Susan Eileen of Allison Park, Kathleen Myra White and husband, Lloyd, of Bellevue, and Walter Preston and wife, Yvonne, of Sewickley. He was a proud and loving grandfather to 12 grandchildren; and three great- grandchildren. Visitation hours will be at BRANDT'S FUNERAL HOME, 1032 Perry Highway, Perrysville, Sunday, May 18, 2014, from 12 to 4 p.m. A Memorial Service will be planned for a later date. Wife of 49 years to the late Charles A.; mother of Charles A. "AI" Yessel (Barbara), Bonnie Graham (Robert, Jr.), and David Yessel (Darlene Harrington); grandmother of Robert, Graham III, Danielle (Bill) Carlezon, Jenna (Jake) Shaw, and Emily Mallick; great-grandmother of Stewart Graham Shaw and Caitlin Leigh Carlezon. Teddy was born on Pittsburgh's North Side and was the daughter of William and Flow Miller. She graduated from Oliver High School in 1937 and married in 1946. She was a secretary for 20 years for the Shaler Area School District, and an active and faithful member of Christ Lutheran Church of Millvale, where she taught Sunday School for 45 years. POLJAK MATTHEW JOHN "MUTZY" Age 90, of Brookline, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was born June 21, 1923, in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Anna and Anthony Poljak. Matt was raised on the South Side along with two brothers and three sisters by Anna and Anthony, and after Anthony's passing, by his stepfather, Charles Stosic. He is survived by a brother, Nicholas (Lil) Poljak; a sister-in-law, Irene (the late John); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews, and many friends. Matt was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Henrietta (Podgorski); three sisters, Barbara Simons, Catherine Mance, Mary Stosic Zanetta; and a brother, John Poljak. Matt was a proud Marine serving from 1941-1950, through WWII, then active in the 4th Marine Corps Reserve District, through 1952 during the Korean War. He served as a Recog. Instructor, Rocket Crewman, and Heavy Artillery Specialist in The Asiatic Pacific Theater and participated in action against the enemy at Okinawa. Mutzy had many friends from The South Side, Brookline and most recently, from his home at Paramount Assisted Living in Baldwin. His kind words and generosity will be missed by all. TOTH RICHARD E. “RICK” Age 73, passed away, surrounded by loved ones, on Wednesday, May 14, 2014. He was born on July 22, 1940, in Urbana, IL, son of the late Prof. Edmund F. and Mrs. Georgena Toth. Rick is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Carol; daughter, Anne and her husband, Tristan; granddaughter, Alexandra; son, Jim and his wife, Ashley; brother, Col. James and his wife, Molly; and a large group of extended family and friends who loved him dearly. Rick was an inventor, an engineer, and a CEO, who ran several successful businesses over the course of his career. Most recently, he founded Allomet Corporation, based on technology that he developed and patented, and continued to serve on its board of directors until shortly before his passing. Earlier in life, he distinguished himself as an officer in the U.S. Army, serving on active duty in Vietnam. Born April 16, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, Karl Scheffer. She is survived by her son, Jeff Scheffer and wife, Rebecca; daughter, Susan Holland; and five grandchildren, Kate, Allison, Annie, John, and Alexandra. Dee attended Butler and Indiana universities and was a lifelong fan of the Cincinnati Reds and Indiana University basketball. She was smart, witty and truly something of a character. O'NEIL JEANNE Jeanne Marie (Malloy) O'Neil, of Chicago, IL, died on April 17, 2014, at the age of 83. She was born in 1930 in Pittsburgh, the youngest of Charles and Irene (McNerney) Malloy's nine children. In 1948, she graduated from St. Mary of the Mount High School. In 1952, she was one of only two women to graduate from Duquesne University with a B.S. in business administration. That same year, Jeanne married John Joseph “Jack” O'Neil in Pittsburgh and they had seven children, one daughter followed by six sons. She and her husband divorced in 1980 and he died in 2005. She remained close to her children and grandchildren throughout her life. In 1965, Jeanne began her 32 year career at Trans World Airlines (TWA) in the reservation area of the Pittsburgh office. In 1980, she was transferred to Chicago when the Pittsburgh office closed. As TWA shifted its reservations to a computerized system, Jeanne traveled around the world training reservationists on the new technology. In 1997, she retired from TWA as manager of the Reservation sales. Jeanne remained in her adopted city of Chicago, where four of her seven children reside. Jeanne was an avid sports fan. She was particularly supportive of her hometown Pittsburgh teams. She loved the Pirates and the Penguins, and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was also an enthusiastic fan of Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. Jeanne is survived by her daughter, Laurie Good (Barry) of Livonia, MI; her six sons, Kevin O'Neil (Susan Wise) of Chicago, IL, Sean O'Neil (Chris) of Dublin, OH; Mark O'Neil (Valerie) of Mechanicsburg, PA, Michael O'Neil (Liz Bartels) of Chicago, IL, Patrick (Penny) O'Neil of Chicago, IL, and Dan (Shawn-Laree) O'Neil of Chicago, IL; Jeanne is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, Tara Harris, Brandon Good, Connor Good, Moira O'Neil, Melanie Senter, Colleen O'Neil, Corey O'Neil, Bryan O'Neil, Erin Espy, Kerry O'Neil, Megan O'Neil, Ella O'Neil, Christian O'Neil, and Caleb O'Neil; and four great- grandchildren, Bradley Booker, Hannah Harris, Leah Senter, and Harper Anhaltzer; she is also survived by her sister, Betty Malloy Qualters of Pittsburgh. Her parents and other siblings preceded her in death. A family memorial service will be held in Pittsburgh on Saturday, May 24, 2014.
