NORA DAY Nora Day, of Ft. Wayne, IN passed away February 6, 2020 in Vistiting Nurses and Hospice Home. She was 78. She was born October 9, 1941 in Mercer, PA to Andromeda Kays Wininsky and Stephen Tomajko. Ms. Day Graduated from Hickory High School in 1959. She received her Bachelor degree from Eastern Baptist College. After that she received her Master's degree in Social Work from Shippensburg University. She was a Allegheny County Juvenile Probation Officer for 38 years. Nora enjoyed watching her grandchildren play sports, helping them with their homework, helping animals, playing slots, writing, discussing politics, watching The Bachelor, and most of all helping anyone who needed any kind of help. She is survived by two daughters, Angela Day of Ft. Wayne, IN and Laurie Day of Las Vegas, NV. A son, Neil Day of Ft. Wayne, IN. Six sisters, Linda Delgros of Sharon, PA, Abby Tomajko of Sharon, PA, Elona Tinkel of Phoenix, AZ, Jennifer Underwood of Albuquerque, NM, Polly Tiege of Sin Valley, CA, Sulvia Wininsky of Tempe, AZ and two brothers Stanley and Nick Wininsky both of Pittsburgh, PA. She also survived by four grandchildren 1) Adam Day of Minneapolis, MN, 2) Brilee Day of Fort Wayne, In, 3) Camden Day of Fort Wayne, IN, 4) Julian Taylor of Tokyo Japan. Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles Day, whom she married January 15, 1966 and he passed away June 22, 1996. A son, Charles Day and two brothers, Terry Tomajko and Dan Wininsky. CHRISTOPHER BRINSKO Of Springfield, VA, formerly of Highland Park, passed unexpectedly on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at age 58. He was the beloved son of Gloria Foglia Brinsko and the late George A. Brinsko; loving brother of Kathleen Smith, Leslie Sciulli (Alex), Melissa Brinsko, and the late George Kim Brinsko; dear uncle of Matthew Sciulli and Elena Sciulli (Jeremiah Miele); cherished great-uncle of Jonathan. Chris was a graduate of Central Catholic High School and earned his BS degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was employed by a national environmental engineering firm in the Washington, DC area specializing in government contracts. He also worked many years in the retail/construction industry. Chris was always a happy, fun-loving, family oriented individual, who enjoyed reading, animals, and visiting with family and friends. He will truly be missed by everyone. ELAINE (McCLOSKEY) TODD Age 99, of Mt. Lebanon, PA passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Born on June 29, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Anna Mae and James Garner. Beloved wife to the late Palmer J. McCloskey and Robert E. Todd. Loving mother to Mark (Mary Ann) McCloskey. Cherished grandmother to nine grandchildren and great-grandmother to nne great-grandchildren. Elaine was preceded in death by her sons, David M. McCloskey and Richard M. McCloskey and her brother, James Garner. Elaine attended St. Joseph's College in Maryland. She had numerous secretarial positions including working at the Pentagon and as a physician's assistant in Boca Raton, FL. Elaine was an avid bridge player and will be dearly missed by all. She was the beloved wife of Joseph G. “Whitey” Hlad for 68 years; mother of Melany Hlad of Pittsburgh, Nadine (David) Winwood of White Oak, Patrice “PT” (Paul Ludwig) Hlad of West Mifflin; Buba of Joseph Winwood of Plano, Texas and Nicholas Winwood of Manchester, New Hampshire. Brother of the late David Cutenese. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Ron also leaves behind his dog, Lulu, his best friend in the world. GERALDINE A. "GERRI" BIRES Age 89, of Moon Twp., passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 8, 2020, in her home. She was born in North Braddock, PA, on July 25, 1930, the daughter of the late Anna (Regrut) and Michael Pavlik. She is survived by her three daughters: Dr. Jill Bires, Atlanta; Janet and Bill Boslett, Chicago; and Beth and Stephen Henry, Moon Twp.; Gerri will be missed by her brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Jeanne Pavlik; and many nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her four legged friends, Grace and Ruby. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Edward; an infant daughter, Jean Ann; and a brother, Norman. Gerri worked as a teaching assistant for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit assisting special needs children. She was a member of St. Margaret Mary Roman Catholic Parish. In her retirement years, Gerri enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with family. Passing along her Slovak heritage to future generations, Gerri will be remembered for her expertise in pierogie, babalki and nut roll making. We know she is dancing in heaven with her beloved Ed and her heart is now complete. A special thanks to Mary Beth and Jeff for their care, love and friendship. PAMELA JEAN (BENSON) YEAGER Passed away peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2020, with her family by her side. Pam was born on November 1, 1953, in Pittsburgh to Raymond and Dolores Benson (Ball). She was raised in the South Hills of Pittsburgh and graduated from Baldwin-Whitehall High School class of 1972. Pam is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Daniel W. Yeager. Pam had three children and eight grandchildren; sons, Adam (Melissa) Lefcowitz, Josh (Jenn) Lefcowitz; daughter, Tamara Lefcowitz (Steve Mescan); and grandchildren, Alycia, Jeremiah, Ruth, Joscelyn, Judah, Aviella, Meaghan, and Stephen. She is also survived by two sisters and a brother, Judy Eckert (Marty) and Marlene Galiszewski (Jerry) and Scott (Cindy) Benson; as well as many nieces and nephews. Pam was preceded in death by her sister, Darlene Benson; and her parents. Pam will be remembered by her family and friends as a fighter who lived life to the fullest. After a liver transplant in 1996 that saved her life, she continued to work and share meaningful time with all those around her. RAYMOND J. BERGMAN Raymond J. Bergman, age 94, beloved father, grandfather, teacher, and coach passed away on Friday, February 7, 2020. Ray was born on January 19, 1926, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late William and Rose (Buchert) Bergman. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Patricia (Day) Bergman; brothers Bill, Gerard, and Fr. Charles; and his daughter Marta Turnbull. He is survived by his children, Rick (Elisabeth) Bergman, Bobbe (Bill) Warrick and Betsy (Bruce) Branham. He is also survived by his sister, Rosemary Amurgis; his son-in-law Scott Turnbull; and his 12 loving grandchildren, Ryan and Samantha Bergman, Rachel (Luke) Warrick Sweeney, Jacob and Ben Warrick, Adam, Emily, Alex, and Andrew Branham, and Frank, Sonny, and Jackie Restelli. Ray's 94 years were well-lived. After graduation from North Catholic High School, he joined the army and served during WW II. Upon discharge, he enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh where earned a BA. He began a life-long teaching career at North Catholic where he also coached football. Eventually he earned his Master's degree at Duquesne University and continued to earn credits beyond his master's at Penn State University. Most of his career was spent at Quaker Valley Junior High where he taught English for many years before becoming the principal. He also coached football while there. Ray retired in 1986. In addition to teaching, Ray also was a football official for the Eastern Association of Intercollegiate Football Officials. Upon retirement, Ray and Pat traveled the world. Their trips included Antarctica, Australia, and the ruins of Machu Pichu. They devoted many hours in service to others through volunteering at St. Vincent de Paul and delivering for Meals-on-Wheels. Ray also served as the regional vice president of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame. A funeral mass will be offered at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, at St. Catherine of Sweden Parish in Wildwood. The family will greet friends prior to the service. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. He will be laid to rest at Holy Savior Cemetery in Gibsonia. JANE GUZIK Age 97, a longtime resident of Groveton and Neville Island, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2020 at Good Samaritan Hospice House. Born on Neville Island on January 27, 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Carolina (Filipczak) Guzik and sister of the late Helen (Guzik) Moore, Josephine (Guzik) Fisher, Agnes (Guzik) Alexander, Frank Guzik and John (Guzik) Guard. She was the well-loved and cherished aunt to Barbara (Alexander) Blumling, Carol (Alexander) Hayman (Carl), Raymond Alexander (Melissa), and a great legacy of numerous loving great-nieces, great-nephews. Jane worked and retired from Montour Railroad. For many years, she was a member of “Better Than Ever Independents, Inc.” and the “Sassy Senior Dancers” who entertained for organizations like nursing homes, banquets, parties etc. Visitation Wednesday, February 12 from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. where prayers will be recited at 12 p.m. followed by Mass at 12:30 p.m. at St. Joseph Church. WHITTEN EAST LITTLE Age 87, of Beaver, PA (formerly of Bethel Park, PA) passed away on Friday, February 8, 2020 surrounded by his family. Born August 25, 1933 in Asheville, North Carolina, he was the son of Joseph W. and Lula East Little. He was a veteran of the US Army Reserves and was a Church Elder at the Bethel Presbyterian Church, Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara H. Little. Surviving Whitten is his son, Whitten E. (Kim) Little, Jr, Beaver PA; and two daughters, Joanne (Rick) Guth, Slatington, PA; Dianne Little, Harrisburg, PA; ten grandchildren, Naomi Rachel Guth, Rebecca (Mike Metzler) Guth-Metzler, Nathan Guth, D. WILLIAM E. HUNKELE In Loving Memory of William E. Hunkele who left us peacefully on February 8, 2020 with his loving wife of 43 years Christy Hunkele by his side. Loving brother of Albert (Mary), Gregory (Maria) and Wayne Hunkele. Loving nieces and nephews Gina, Nick, Alex, Genna, Janelle and their children, as well as his loving aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. He was preceded in death by parents Albert J. Jr. and Roberta M. Hunkele and sister Janice H. Hunkele. Billy was a graduate of Pine Richland High School and a Vietnam Veteran who proudly served his country. Billy was an amazing, loving husband, brother, uncle and friend with a tremendous spirit. IRENE M. (FACCIOTTI) BRANCEWICZ Age 94, of Scott Twp., passed away peacefully at home on February 9, 2020, surrounded by her family. Beloved wife of the late John Brancewicz; loving mother of Leonard (Karen) Brancewicz of Atlanta, GA, John “Jackie” (Laura) Brancewicz of Hampshire, TN, and Mary Beth (Richard) Pongratz of Kennedy Twp; sister of the late Rita, Leonard and Joseph Facciotti; mother-in-law of Mary Grace Brancewicz; cherished grandmother of Michael (Danielle) Brancewicz, Amy (Tanner) Jones, Jay (Melissa) Brancewicz and Gina (Clint Mayeux) Brancewicz, Richie and Chad Pongratz; great-grandmother of four and one additional expected any day. So many people loved and admired Irene. She will always be remembered for her generosity to all and her infectious sense of fun. The family acknowledges with sincere gratitude, the kindness and support of Irene's neighbors and friends during the last few months; you know who you are, and she loved each one of you dearly.
