JOSEPH HENRY MARSILIO Age 92, formerly of Coraopolis, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Wisconsin. Born December 2, 1926 in Coraopolis, a son of the late Anthony and Anna (Colangelo) Marsilio, he was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Aliquippa. Mr. Marsilio was the owner of the Gondola Lounge in Coraopolis for 40 years, and proudly served in the U.S. Army veteran during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred (Muslin) Marsilio, on December 18, 2017. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Russell; a granddaughter, Stacy (Majors) Uecker, and her husband, Brian; two great-granddaughters, Tessa (Coleman) Selear, and her husband, Nick, and Kaleigh Coleman; a brother-in-law, Walter Muslin, and many nieces and nephews. He worked at US Steel in McKees Rocks for 42 years. His life long hobby and passion was breeding and racing homing pigeons. He won numerous awards and was renowned for his long distance racers. Fred kept physically fit and was active well into his 90's. He loved hunting, training his beagles, gardening, and being in the woods. He enjoyed finding the humor in daily situations. Fred will be remembered as a great father, a loving husband, and a caring, willing, generous helper to family and friends. Honest, hardworking, kind, and friendly, Fred was a role model to many family members. This genuinely good man will be missed. Chester was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married Shirley Joan Reed on February 13, 1954. He was the Chief of Police for Hampton Township and served on the police department from 1960 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of FOP Lodge 91; PA Chiefs of Police, International Chiefs Association, W. PA Chiefs of Police Association, and North Hills Boro Chiefs of Police Association. He also belonged to the American Legion, NRA and USO and was a member of St. Ursula and St. Mary Parishes. Chester loved spending time with his wife and children and was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed family gatherings and vacations, boating, fishing, and playing with grand dog, Chocco. Rosemarie also performed in many productions at the Pittsburgh Playhouse where she meet her husband, Bob. They raised their family in Penn Hills and spent the last 20 years in Regent Square. Rosemarie was a devout Catholic and member of Word of God Parish (St. Anselm). Rosemarie worked at Carnegie Mellon University as an Executive Assistant to the head of the Painting and Sculpture Department and the head of the Music Department. Rosemarie volunteered as a docent at the Heinz History Center and was active in the Edgewood Toastmasters Club. Family will welcome friends at the THOMAS L. HELEN DEGE ROSE Went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 26, 2019. Born May 20, 1927 to the late Julius and Ethel Dezomits; beloved wife of the late Louis Aldy Dege and Charles Brucie Rose; stepmother to Lynn (Bill) Kratochvila and the late Susan (John) Sciulli; sister of John (Rickie) Dezomites; also five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Frank, Julius and Edward. Helen always dressed to the nines, loved jewelry, clothes, shoes, cooking, gardening, Peter, wine, sweets and anything leopard print. She was one sassy lady. MELVIN L. HYATT Age 87, of the Willows for the past three years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Caring Heights. He was born in the family farmhouse in Moon Township on November 14, 1931 to the late Harry and Alma (Obenreder) Hyatt. He was a 1950 graduate of Moon High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Panama. Melvin was retired from Dravo Hastings HVAC Co. Melvin was a member of Toastmasters International, liked to travel, hunt, fish and work in his cabin. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Genevieve Genny Cole-Hyatt; his four children, Joyce (Tony) Kreider, Melanie (Carl) Bergstrom, Greg (Cheryl) Hyatt, Kimberly Kutchmark; four stepchildren, Cathy Kelley, Skip (Caren) Cole, Steve (Jill) Cole, Philip (Sunshine) Cole; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and his brother, Wayne Hyatt. Melvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene Hyatt; five brothers and one sister. Visitation Thursday, 2-8 p.m. with Blessing Service time later at COPELAND'S Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Burial will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 10:30 a.m. with full Military Honors.
