JOSEPH HENRY MARSILIO Age 92, formerly of Coraopolis, passed away Thursday, August 22, 2019 in Wisconsin. Born December 2, 1926 in Coraopolis, a son of the late Anthony and Anna (Colangelo) Marsilio, he was a member of St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church in Aliquippa. Mr. Marsilio was the owner of the Gondola Lounge in Coraopolis for 40 years, and proudly served in the U.S. Army veteran during WWII. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mildred (Muslin) Marsilio, on December 18, 2017. Surviving are a daughter, Kathy Russell; a granddaughter, Stacy (Majors) Uecker, and her husband, Brian; two great-granddaughters, Tessa (Coleman) Selear, and her husband, Nick, and Kaleigh Coleman; a brother-in-law, Walter Muslin, and many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. at TATALOVICH FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2205 McMinn St., Aliquippa, PA 15001. Family and friends will meet Friday at St. Elijah Serbian Orthodox Church, 2200 Irwin St., Aliquippa, PA 15001, where a service will be held at 10 a.m., with Fr. Branislav Golic, officiating. Interment will follow at 11 a.m. in St. Elijah Church Cemetery, Hopewell Twp., where the Beaver County Special Unit will conduct military honors. FREDERICK AUGUST "BICK" PORTA Age 100, of McKees Rocks/Kennedy Twp., died peacefully Sunday, August 25, 2019 surrounded by family in the home that he built and lived in since 1955. Born January 1, 1919, to the late August Walter Porta and Mary Irene Ruffley Porta. Fred will be missed by his loving wife of 73 years, Anne Petrowski Porta; his children, Ronald (Karen) Porta, Donald Porta, Michael (Sandy) Porta, Christine (John F., Jr.) Sofranko, Marilyn Porta; grandchildren, Amy (Jamie Chinnock) Porta, Erin (Nate Boxrucker) Porta, John F. "Jay" Sofranko, III, Michael J. Porta, Matthew (Ramsey) Porta, Katherine “Katie” (Joe) Kendall, Dustin Porta, Jessica (Ben Hooymeijer) Porta; great-grandchildren, Elliot Chinnock, Luke Chinnock, John F. "Jay, IV" Sofranko, Reece Boxrucker, Jacob Boxrucker, Owen Porta, Avery Porta; and numerous nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his seven brothers and six sisters, Paul (Hilda) Porta, Frank (Helen) Porta, Edward (Clara) Porta, Leo Porta, Agnes (Kenneth) Etter, Matthew (Sophie) Porta, Estelle (Len) Patton, Mary (Henry) Macek, Thomas (Alice) Porta, William (Violet) Porta, Betty (Paul) Patton, Leona (Vince) Formosa, Dolores (Stephen) Metrovich. Fred attended St. Francis de Sales School where he developed his strong and lifelong Catholic faith. During World War II, he spent three and a half years overseas as a T-5 Corporal in the US Army Signal Corps with assignments that took him to 11 different European countries. He worked at US Steel in McKees Rocks for 42 years. His life long hobby and passion was breeding and racing homing pigeons. He won numerous awards and was renowned for his long distance racers. Fred kept physically fit and was active well into his 90's. He loved hunting, training his beagles, gardening, and being in the woods. He enjoyed finding the humor in daily situations. Fred will be remembered as a great father, a loving husband, and a caring, willing, generous helper to family and friends. Honest, hardworking, kind, and friendly, Fred was a role model to many family members. This genuinely good man will be missed. JAMES ALBERT NOE Age 82, of North Versailles, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 26, 2019. Beloved husband of the late Mildred "Mickey" (Wentroble) Noe; wonderful son of the late Chester and Eilleen (Murphy) Noe; loving father of Michael J. Noe and Edward J. Noe; adored grandfather of Jessica (Scott Warnick) Noe and Isabella Noe; brother of John (Mary Ann) Noe, Carol (Gerald) Lee, Mary Ellen (Joel) Bloom, and the late Donald (surviving spouse, Carole) Noe; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Jim learned his strong work ethic at an early age while working in his father's butcher shop, C.A. Noe Market in Wilkinsburg. He was part of the last graduating class of Carnegie Tech in 1966 and was also a Marine veteran. Jim worked at Westinghouse in East Pittsburgh as an electrical engineer for over 30 years. CHESTER JOSEPH KLINE, SR. Age 86, of Hampton Twp., PA, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019. He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Joan Kline. Chester was a wonderful and loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy L. (Don Bertok) Perestock; sons, Joseph E. (Diana) Kline, II, David R. (Kim) Kline, Chester J. (Gail) Kline, Jr., Daniel E. (Lisa) Kline, James M. (Tracy) Kline; grandchildren, Michael (Corinne) Perestock, Jennifer (Nathan) Roberts, Ryan (Liz) Perestock, Daniel (Jessica) Perestock, Joseph Kline, III, Matthew (Ariel), David, Kaitlyn, Andrew, Keegan, Daniel and Patrick (Jenna) Kline; great-grandchildren, Ella and Gavin Perestock, Victoria Roberts, Joanna Perestock and Evelyn Perestock; sister, Shirley Conley; sister-in-law, Diane Gallagher and Margaret Ann Kline; and many nieces and nephews. Chester was the son of the late Joseph E. and Pearl (Stuver) Kline. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Joan Marie and his siblings, Roland, Joyce Adler, Crystle Reight, and Edwin Kline. Chester was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married Shirley Joan Reed on February 13, 1954. He was the Chief of Police for Hampton Township and served on the police department from 1960 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of FOP Lodge 91; PA Chiefs of Police, International Chiefs Association, W. PA Chiefs of Police Association, and North Hills Boro Chiefs of Police Association. He also belonged to the American Legion, NRA and USO and was a member of St. Ursula and St. Mary Parishes. Chester loved spending time with his wife and children and was a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He enjoyed family gatherings and vacations, boating, fishing, and playing with grand dog, Chocco. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, August 29th at St. Ursula Church, 3937 Kirk Avenue in Allison Park, PA with Father Garrett Dorsey officiating. ROSEMARIE (SCHLANGER) NELLIS Age 96, passed on Monday, August 26, 2019. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on July 7, 1923 to the late Francis and Rose (Schnur) Schlanger. Preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert (Bob) Nellis; beloved mother of Francis (Frank) Nellis; James (Jim) Nellis, husband of Christian Hinze; Margaret (Maggie) Donley, wife of Bill; Catherine (Kate) White, widow of Tom; proud and loving grandmother of Emma, Will, and Peter Donley; Eleanora (Nora) White; Guthrie Renwick; devoted sister of Marydee Heim (Jack); Larry Schlanger (Patty); and John Schlanger (Patty); sister of the late and loved Frank, Charles (Chubb and Peggy), Bill (Mary) and Michael Schlanger. Rosemarie was born and raised in her family home on Perrysville Avenue. Rosemarie attended Annunciation Grade School and Annunciation High School for girls where she played on the women's basketball team.After high school, Rosemarie worked at American Standard Company. Rosemarie performed in the Passion Play at St. Michael's on the South Side and with the Jewish Theatre Guild. Rosemarie also performed in many productions at the Pittsburgh Playhouse where she meet her husband, Bob. They raised their family in Penn Hills and spent the last 20 years in Regent Square. Rosemarie was a devout Catholic and member of Word of God Parish (St. Anselm). Rosemarie worked at Carnegie Mellon University as an Executive Assistant to the head of the Painting and Sculpture Department and the head of the Music Department. Rosemarie volunteered as a docent at the Heinz History Center and was active in the Edgewood Toastmasters Club. Family will welcome friends at the THOMAS L. Loving mother of Jeffrey (Christa) Blair, Dr. Lorri (Dr. Melissa McCue) Lankiewicz and the late Ricky and Darlene Lankiewicz; cherished grandmother of Scott Blair; daughter of the late James H. and Irene T. (Trzeciak) Blair; sister of Jean (late Bill) Gasior and the late James T. (surviving wife Vivian) Blair; longtime companion of the late Sam James; cherished aunt of Renee (Steve) Baker, Christine (Ken) Batko, Mark (Martha) Bierce, Michael (Karen) Bierce, Jim (Jen) Blair, Tom (Casey) Blair and Donny Blair; also survived by many great-nieces and nephews. Toni worked at Central Medical and Mercy Hospital. Most recently, she proudly volunteered at Butler Memorial Hospital at the information desk, where she received her pin for 500 hours of service. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary 2754 and served as Chaplain and Conductress. She was the District 29 VFW Auxiliary Chaplain. Toni's most recent honor was being appointed as the Department of PA VFWA Assistant Guard. Toni's spirit has been enlightening and inspiring throughout her journey in life. She wishes "Peace, Love and Joy to all." Family and friends are welcomed at the WALTER J. HELEN DEGE ROSE Went to be with the Lord, Monday, August 26, 2019. Born May 20, 1927 to the late Julius and Ethel Dezomits; beloved wife of the late Louis “Aldy” Dege and Charles “Brucie” Rose; stepmother to Lynn (Bill) Kratochvila and the late Susan (John) Sciulli; sister of John (Rickie) Dezomites; also five grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; preceded in death by her brothers, Albert, Frank, Julius and Edward. MELVIN L. HYATT Age 87, of the Willows for the past three years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at Caring Heights. He was born in the family farmhouse in Moon Township on November 14, 1931 to the late Harry and Alma (Obenreder) Hyatt. He was a 1950 graduate of Moon High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, stationed in Panama. Melvin was retired from Dravo Hastings HVAC Co. Melvin was a member of Toastmasters International, liked to travel, hunt, fish and work in his cabin. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Genevieve “Genny” Cole-Hyatt; his four children, Joyce (Tony) Kreider, Melanie (Carl) Bergstrom, Greg (Cheryl) Hyatt, Kimberly Kutchmark; four stepchildren, Cathy Kelley, Skip (Caren) Cole, Steve (Jill) Cole, Philip (Sunshine) Cole; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and his brother, Wayne Hyatt. Melvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene Hyatt; five brothers and one sister. Visitation Thursday, 2-8 p.m. with Blessing Service time later at COPELAND'S Moon Township, 981 Brodhead Rd. Burial will be Tuesday, September 3, 2019 National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 10:30 a.m. with full Military Honors.
