SARAH J. FLAHERTY Age 88, of the Mexican Wars Street passed away peacefully on the 5th of July 2019. Sarah was born in Pittsburgh, PA on the 25th of January 1931 to Bartley and Mary Kane Flaherty, a strong Irish Catholic family. Sarah, who was named after her paternal grandmother, was known for her love of gardening, knitting, crocheting, and weaving beautiful scarves, hats, and ponchos. Sarah never married but she loved teaching her nieces and nephews how to ride a bike, swim, dive, play volleyball, paint, how to repair anything from plumbing to electrical work and so much more. Sarah was preceded in death by her loving parents, Bartley and Mary Kane Flaherty; her beloved siblings, Mary Flaherty, Bridget (Martin) Coyne, Rita (Fred) Weiss, Dolores (William )Miller, Patrick and Daniel Flaherty. Sarah is survived by her brother, Regis(Georgeane) Flaherty, nieces, Eileen (Coyne) Joyce, Bridget Coyne, Colleen Coyne, Maura Coyne, Mary (Flaherty) Love; and nephews, Patrick Flaherty, Keith Flaherty, Timothy Flaherty, Dan Flaherty, Bart Flaherty, Regis Flaherty, Martin Coyne and late Sean Coyne, Kathleen Flaherty and Sean Flaherty; as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. MARILYN BERNZWEIG Age 91, of McMurray, died peacefully Thursday, August 1, 2019 in her home. She was born December 24, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY, a daughter of the late Samuel and Agnes Rabinowitz Diamond. Mrs. Bernzweig was a 1945 graduate of Lakewood High School in Lakewood, New Jersey, and went on to attend Rider College in Trenton, NJ. She was a homemaker, and worked with her husband at their family business, Freehold Paint and Floor Covering. She enjoyed traveling, particularly to Aruba where she vacationed for over 30 years. Her greatest joy, however, was her family, especially her nine great-grandchildren. She was a member of Beth El Congregation in Mt. Lebanon as well as the Beth Israel Congregation in Washington. She was also a member of the Beth El Sisterhood and Hadassah. On June 19, 1949, in Asbury Park, NJ, she married Melvin Bernzweig, who died March 2, 2001. Surviving are three daughters, Cheryl (James) Snyder of Pittsburgh, Susan (Andrew) Aaronson of Rehoboth Beach, DE, and Lynn (William) Wiechmann of Las Vegas, NV; a sister, Charlotte Garfinkel of Connecticut; five grandchildren, Amy Kaminski, Stacey (Jason) Cobb, Randi (Nicholas) Rumbaugh, Elissa (Seth Goodman) Aaronson, and Eric Aaronson; nine great-grandchildren, Micah, Adam and Talia Goodman, Evan and Braden Cobb, Maya Kaminski, Mattea Aaronson, and Colton and Tanner Rumbaugh, and numerous nieces and nephews. She advanced from Staff Nurse, to Supervisor, to Nurse Manager all while advocating for the mental health community. Towards the end of her career, she worked with the mental health population at the Hill House located in the Hill District. Betty retired at the age of 77 to pursue her passion for traveling the world. Besides his interests in fly fishing, hunting, reading, cooking and exploring culinary delights, Bill's heart was captured by his children and grandchildren. CHARLES LUCAS GRANIGAN, JR. Age 79, of Farmington, PA passed away Friday, August 2, 2019. He was born in Cumberland, MD on March 4, 1940, the son of Charles Lucas Granigan, Sr. and Wihelmina House Granigan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie Tsangaris. Charlie was a 1958 graduate of Fort Hill High School in Cumberland, MD. He went on to receive a Bachelor's degree from Frostburg State University and his Master's degree from Pennsylvania State University. Charlie serviced his country in the U.S. Navy from 1958 through 1962. He was an educator with the Pittsburgh Public schools for 32 years along with a faculty appointment at the University of Pittsburgh. He was a member of Saint Peter's Anglican Church of Uniontown, attended the New Covenant Church of Markleysburg and enjoyed sharing faith and fellowship with the residents of SCI Fayette through the Kairos Prison Ministry. He was a member of the Beaver Creek Fishing Club and the Explorer's Club of Pittsburgh. He was a river guide and managed river operations for 32 years for the Mountain Streams and Trails Outfitters of Ohiopyle, PA. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice Mae Collins Granigan; a son, Charles Michael Granigan and wife, Beth of Cape May Court House, NJ; two daughters, Kelly Reckley and husband, Robert of Pittsburgh, PA, and Mindy Brancho of Irwin, PA; niece, Eugenia Tsangaris of Pittsburgh, PA; six grandchildren, Jacob Lucas Granigan, Noah Lewis Granigan, Kaleb Christopher Reckley, Addison Maire Reckley, Elias Gregory Brancho and Isabel Grace Brancho; a sister, Stephanie Kaplon of Cumberland, MD. GEORGE "TUCKIE" KRAYNAK On Thursday, August 1, 2019, at the age of 77, Tuckie Kraynak passed away peacefully in the comfort of his sister's home. Tuck is now reunited with his late wife, Joanne (Muscia) Kraynak; his parents, Kaiser and Kathryn Kraynak; his son, Nicholas; and sister, Georgie and husband, Jack Caler. Tuck will be remembered with love by his surviving children and family: daughter, Sandy (Dennis); sons, Sam (Lori), Curtis (Denise), and Craig (Katie); six grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas, Kathryn, CJ, Darrin, and Karsyn; two great-grandchildren, Nicholas and Emory; sisters, Fran (Dave) Williams and JoEllen Kraynak; and many nieces and nephews who will remember Uncle Tuck for all of his wonderful stories, whether real or imaginary. Tuck was raised on 5th Ave. in Coraopolis and never forgot his roots and lifelong friends. His family and friends were his entire world and his circle was wide. There was nowhere that Tuck went that he didn't know someone. Tuck was a true friend and a great brother. He will be sorely missed by those he left behind. BEVERLY A. BLUMAN Age 74, of Turtle Creek, passed away Friday, August 2, 2019. She was born September 27, 1944 in Turtle Creek, a daughter of the late William and Thelma (Smith) Bluman. She was a 1962 graduate of Turtle Creek High School, and prior to retirement worked at Westinghouse from 1962-1976, Kelly Services from 1978-1982, and GTE from 1982-1986. Beverly was a dear friend to many. In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded in death by her loving brother, William Bluman; and her nephew, David Bluman. She was a loving and treasured aunt to Pam Rain of Manor, Thomas Bluman of California, and Daniel Bluman of Manor. MICHAEL WAYNE DEVINE Age 69, of Mt. Lebanon, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2019. Beloved son of the late James and Rose (Saccone) Devine; loving brother of Daniel (Nancy) Devine, Patricia (Richard) Schmidt, Elizabeth (Scott Stewart) Devine, Dr. Joan (Mark Miller) Devine, Janet (James) Smith, Mary Devine, and Susan (Michael) Christy; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Michael was a photographer, carpenter, and a brilliant man.
