Beloved daughter of Thomas and Melissa (White) Tarasovich, Jr.; dear sister of Aiden and Ella Tarasovich; adored grandchild of "Pappy" Thomas and "Nanny" Patricia Tarasovich and the late "Grammi" Beverley White; niece of Lisa Gentile, Pam Tarasovich, Jeanette Douglas, Ken White and Scott White; also survived by many cousins. She was tiny but tough. Tessa was fearless and adventurous, yet also sweet and sensitive. Tessa had a great sense of humor that kept us laughing when we wanted to cry. She inspired us with her kindness and positive attitude. Tessa attended Richland Elementary. She loved horses, frogs, and our family pets Blizzard and Frosty. She was a proud member of the Pine Richland Lacrosse and Field Hockey teams. Tessa loved swimming, tea parties on the porch, fairy gardening, reading, and playing with her friends. Tessa spent many hours watching her sister Ella play ice hockey and her brother Aiden play lacrosse. She was their biggest fan and wouldn't have had it any other way. She was passionate about collecting stuffed animals, and found the perfect name for each one. We are blessed and honored to have had Tessa in our lives and she will be forever in our hearts. Family would like to thank Team Tessa for all of their love and support through this difficult journey. BARRY C. CHERKES Age 49, of Avalon, our Brother passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2019 after a brief fight with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Janet Cherkes. Beloved brother of Paul (Jane) Cherkes, Peggy Cherkes, Patty (Joe) Moore and his twin, Susan Cherkes; uncle "Big B' to Kevin, Katie, Michael, Maggie, Joey and Jack; also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins. Barry was a loving father of two boys, Ben and Max. He loved them more than anything in this world and told them often. Barry was patient, understanding and strived to be a role model to his boys.Our brother was blessed to have a core group of friends that were always there for him and his boys. Our hearts are grateful to the Clarion University Boys (Dave, Potter, Jason, Coco, Foobie and Joe). Our long time neighbors, Bobby and Theresa Weed; his best friend and brother-in-law, Joe Moore. JOHN S. ELLIOTT, JR. Grove City, age 91, formerly of Allison Park went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Born in Grove City on July 5, 1928 to the late John, Sr., and Anna (Martin) Elliott. He married the late Nancy Jane Carnahan on Aug. 6, 1955. A graduate of Grove City College, 1951, he served in the US Army during the Korean War. John retired 1991 from H.J. Heinz Co., PGH, as Manager of Compliance Audits after 35 years of service. While living in Allison Park, John was a member of Elfinwood Presbyterian Church where he was active with Sunday School, Session and other activities. Following retirement John and his wife Nancy moved to Grove City and wintered in Sebring, FL. John is survived by three children, Jane (Dave) Coul, Hermitage; John (Terry) Elliott, Beloit, WI; and Cindy Elliott, Oakmont; and three grandchildren, Lindsey (Drew) Myers, Natrona Heights; Melissa Elliott (Mike Kennally), Machesney Park, IL; and David Coul, Hermitage; along with numerous nieces and nephews and their families. In addition to his parents and wife, a brother, Donald B. Elliott preceded John in death. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions to Grace United Methodist Church, 210 S. Patty had a zest for life and truly lived hers to the fullest through simple pleasures: spending time with family and friends, enjoying camp life, and her many, many “adventures” that often-included Bacardi and cokes. Patty had a caring heart, a welcoming soul, and an infectious laugh. She was incredibly strong with unyielding positivism no matter what circumstances she was faced with. She is survived by her mother-in-law, Laura Shawley; husband, David W. Shawley; daughter Tiffany Kellar; son-in-law, Kraig Kellar; grandchildren, Kayla Roboski, Katelyn Kellar, and Keagan Kellar; brother, Robert B. Fortney; sisters, Carole Rock, Maryann Weaver, and Joyce Slonceski; and many nieces and nephews. TERESA (CAVATONI) BANFIELD Age 91, of Atria South Hills, formerly of Jefferson Hills, passed away on July 23, 2019. She was born June 30, 1928 in Colver, PA to Tullio and Maria (Parissenti) Cavatoni. Teresa was a RN at the Bruceton Research Center and previously served in the USAF from 1950-1965 after she graduated from the Windber Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1949. Teresa was active at the Jefferson Hills Women's Club and volunteered at the food bank in Duquesne and with the Ladies of Charity at St. Thomas A' Becket Church. She loved family, cats and gardening. Teresa is survived by her two sons, Tim (Kathy) Banfield, Mike Banfield; sister, Edith Zawiskie; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James L. Banfield; father, Tullio Cavatoni; mother, Maria Cavatoni; son, Dave Banfield; brother, Roland Cavatoni; and cousin, Flora Bukovitz. MARION ANN (STUDENY) RUHL Age 86, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. Born February 18, 1933 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Caroline (Rumpler) Studeny and wife of the late William Ruhl. She is survived by her sons, William (Kip) Ruhl and Glenn “Bud” (Carol) Ruhl; daughter, Sharyn Ruby and her companion, Bob; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and her devoted sister, Arlene (Edward) Shearer. Family and friends will be received from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 25, 2019 at KING FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, INC., 2841 Woodland Circle in Allison Park. A Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 25, at the King Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Allegheny County Memorial Park in Allison Park. In lieu of flowers, Memorial donations may be made in honor of Marion to the Reformed Presbyterian Home, 2344 Perrysville Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15214.
