EUGENE F. MALONEY Mr. Maloney was Executive Vice President and Corporate Counsel of Federated Investors, Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, a member of the Executive Committee, and has been employed by the firm for forty-seven years. Through Mr. Maloney's efforts, Federated Investors is responsible for virtually all state legislation permitting public entities to use money market funds to manage their liquidity. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Fiduciary Studies and was appointed by the U.S. House of Representatives and Senate as a member of the Industry Sector Working Group on Financial Services. For 26 years, Mr. Maloney was an instructor in trust and securities law at Boston University School of Law, has been a visiting instructor at the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council and the American Bankers Association's National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University, and participated in programs leading to the designation of Certified Trust and Financial Advisor. Mr. Maloney also served as an expert witness in both judicial and legislative settings on matters relating to fiduciary compensation, will construction, and prudent investing. Mr. Maloney was a member of the Advisory Board for the David Berg Center for Leadership and Ethics at the Katz Graduate School of Business, University of Pittsburgh. Mr. Maloney has appeared as a speaker at American Bankers Association gatherings and was a frequent speaker at state bankers association meetings on the following subjects: the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and Regulation R, the deregulation of the financial services industry, the Uniform Prudent Investor Act and the investment management process it contemplates, fiduciary compensation, revisions to Regulation Q, pension reform and asset allocation as a means of optimizing return and minimizing risk, the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act, and the emerging trends in litigation risk in the wealth management industry as a product of the intergenerational transfer of wealth. Mr. Maloney has authored and co-authored a number of articles appearing in various financial and legal publications regarding the investment responsibilities of corporate fiduciaries. He has also been the architect of various educational videos and memoranda having to do with the Uniform Prudent Investor Act, including the retention of underperforming assets and the component of cost as factors in prudent investment decisions, the implications for trust banks of functional regulation under the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, asset allocation in a trust context, the prudence of international investing, the prudence of ESG investing, fiduciary compensation, and the propriety of a corporate fiduciary utilizing a mutual fund to which it provides discrete services. In February, 2011, Mr. Maloney was honored by the Trust Education Foundation, which established and funded the Eugene Maloney Trust Scholarship at Campbell University in North Carolina. In April, 2013, Gene received the Fiduciary of the Year Award from fi360 at their annual conference; fi360 is one of the top fiduciary oversight groups in the United States, and they are responsible for implementing the AIF (Accredited Investment Fiduciary) designation. In 2017 Mr. Maloney was presented with the E. Deane Kanaly Lifetime Achievement Award by the Association of Trust Organizations. Mr. Maloney received his B.A. from Holy Cross College in Worcester, Massachusetts, and his J.D. from Fordham Law School in New York City. He attended Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania focusing on the financial management of commercial banks. He was an officer in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972 and served as an infantry officer for one year in the Republic of Vietnam. Mr. Maloney is survived by his wife Judy Maloney, his children Michael Maloney, Bridget Pastore, Ryan Maloney, and six grandchildren; a brother William Maloney, and a sister, Sister M. SHIRLEY S. (SUMMER) GALLAGHER Of Rockwood, Somerset County, formerly of Forest Hills, age 91, died peacefully on Saturday, July 20, 2019, with her family at her bedside. Beloved wife of the late Ralph E. Gallagher for 65 years; loving mother of Dana (Norm) Tramba, William (Carol) Gallagher, Susan (Mark) Glew, James (Carol) Gallagher, Edward Gallagher, Janet (Bruce) Sivak and Barbara (Jeff) Byers. Shirley is also survived by her brother, Robert (late Peg) Summer; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was a career homemaker and volunteered while raising her children as a Girl Scout Leader and Cub Scout Den Mother. She enjoyed swimming and many types of crafting. EDWARD ROBERT HALDIE Age 64, of Penn Twp., formerly of Turtle Creek, passed away on July 21, 2019. He was born on May 18, 1955, in Pittsburgh, to the late Edward and Elizabeth (McWilliams) Haldie. Edward is survived by his beloved wife, Beth (Montgomery) Haldie; loving children, Edward Allan Haldie and Heather Mae Haldie; sisters, Rae Ryan, Mary (Bob) Wesoloskie, and Carol (Chris) Rutledge; many adoring nieces and nephews; and his beloved family dog, Dakota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Beth (Ken) Jurgovsky. HAROLD "ARCHIE" LAUTERBACH Age 90, a lifetime resident of Clairton, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2019 at the Ashbury Heights Nursing Home. He was born in Clairton on March 3, 1929 to the late Peter Joseph and Caroline DeBor Lauterbach. Harold was a well-known figure in the community of Clairton. As a young man he played baseball for United States Steel, Clairton Works. His participation in a “mill team” was a significant part of Pittsburgh history, as noted in an exhibit at the Heinz History Center. He went on to become Facility Manager of Calgon's packing & shipping facility in the Robinson area of Pittsburgh, a company where he worked for 30 years. Harold drove and helped deliver Meals on Wheels for many years in the Clairton community. Harold volunteered his time at St. Clare of Assisi, was an avid hunter and fisherman, and loved classical music and the symphony. He is survived by his sister, Doris Mae Manns of Scottdale; nieces and nephews, Michele Bamburak, Eric Manns, Mark Manns, Amy (Joseph) Eichenlaub, Paul (Melissa) Manns, Russ (Colleen) Halt, Beth Mellott, and Carol (Alan) Schriber; great-nieces and nephews, Laura (Josh Warner Burke) Bamburak, Aaron Bamburak, Noah Manns, Savanah Manns, Chloe Eichenlaub, Logan Eichenlaub, Jeremy Halt, Caitlyn Halt, Mikayla Halt, Nathan Mellott, Lily Mellott, Ricky Mellott, Mark Schriber, Leighann Washburns; great-great-nieces and nephews, Quinn Warner Burke, Jake Washburns, and Kaylee Washburns. EVELYN (HOERING) GOLEMBE Resident of Regent Square in Pittsburgh, PA, since 2013, passed away on July 19, 2019, after a courageous and stubborn three-year battle against leiomyosarcoma, a rare form of cancer. Born June 26, 1941, in New York City, she was the daughter of the late Otto and Helena (Goettel) Hoering who had emigrated from Germany's Rhineland Palatinate in the 1930s. Her hard-working family owned and operated the popular Lake Jefferson Hotel in Jeffersonville, NY from the late 1940s until the 1970s. Beloved wife of John C. Golembe, Evelyn was the proud mother of Ellen J. Rubin (Jonathan) of Pittsburgh and Peter A. Golembe (Regine) of Muelheim/Ruhr, Germany, and the delighted grandmother of Evan J. Rubin, Julian E. Rubin, Jasmine A. Golembe and Benjamin C. Golembe. She is also survived by her brothers, Rudolf Hoering (Helen) and Kenneth Hoering (Cherie) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. With lifelong curiosity for the culture and language of her family's heritage, Evelyn earned her B.A. and M.A. degrees in German language and literature at Wayne State University. She additionally studied at William Smith College, the University of Munich and the University of Maryland. As a young person, Evelyn worked in the family hotel before beginning her own professional life as a German language instructor at Wayne State, then as a high school English teacher and librarian on the island of Guam and as a tenured German teacher in Prince George's County, MD schools. When her husband accepted an assignment with the University of Maryland's European Division, she seized the opportunity to pursue a rewarding career overseas. For 20 years she served in Heidelberg, Germany as translator and civilian executive officer for the U.S. Army Medical Research Unit-Europe, a Special Foreign Activity of the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. Evelyn thoroughly enjoyed living in Europe, made many friends there, volunteered as an officer for the Women's International Group and traveled widely. She and John were members of the Heidelberg Wandering Club and together they hiked a different trail nearly every weekend, usually in Germany or France but also in England, Ireland, the Netherlands and Luxembourg. But throughout her varied and exciting life, Evelyn's primary loyalty and love was always for her family. She and her husband made plans to celebrate their 54 years of marriage in October. A memorial service will be held for Evelyn in the spring, her favorite season. ALBERT W. FAGES Age 83, of McDonald, Robinson Twp., died Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in his home. He was born November 18, 1935, in Weirton, WV; a son of the late Albert and Martha Kulkiwski Fages. Mr. Fages was an active member of St. Alphonsus R.C. Church and was a US Army veteran. He retired from Schroeder Industries as a distributor. Surviving are his wife, Jacqueline “Jackie” Nix Fages; son, Tim Fages of McDonald; grandchildren, Patrick, Kailey, and Shane Fages, Rori and Reanna Brackman; great-grandchildren, Greyson and Patrick Fages, Declan and Nolan Metz. He is also survived by one sister, Lillian Bonnett of McDonald. He was preceded in death by his son, Patrick Fages and his sister, Delores Fages. Friends will be received Friday, 4-8 p.m. in the THOMAS-LITTLE FUNERAL SERVICE, INC., 314 W. Lincoln Avenue, McDonald (724-693-2800). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Alphonsus R.C. Church, McDonald. Interment will follow in Robinson Run Cemetery. FREDA "FRITZIE" (POPE) HESS On Tuesday, July 23, 2019, age 81, of Crafton, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Beloved sister of the late Barbara (David) Latshaw; loving aunt of Becky (John) Bannon and Todd (Budgie) Latshaw; dear great-aunt of Christopher (Dana) Bannon, Natalie (Joshua) Hill, Sara Latshaw and David (Tiffany) Latshaw; great-great-aunt of Ruby, Olive and Ivy Bannon, Autumn and Elijah Hill and Baylen and Gray Latshaw. Fritzie was a devout member of St. Stephen's Church in Sewickley, where she joyfully served and worshiped. She enjoyed a wonderful career at U.S. Steel Corp., spanning over 40 years, and was an active member of the Ciloets, a U.S. Steel Women's Organization. She will be remembered for her kind and generous spirit. Many lives have been touched by her compassionate heart and her contagious smile. She truly lived by her favorite verse to recite, “This is the the day the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it”. (Psalms 118:24). Fritzie leaves behind a legacy of love. MARILYN (LADLEY) MALONEY Age 89, of West Mifflin peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 22, 2019. Loving wife of 69 years to WIlliam D. Maloney; adored mother of Dale Maloney, Leslie (Tim) Holoman, and Lisa (Randy) May; cherished grandmother of Daniel, Krystal, Ryan (Kristin), Tom (Emily), Ashleigh, and Lindsay; great-grandmother of Addyson, Aaron, Cameron, Colin, Henry, and Charlie. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Wilma Ladley and her brothers, Thomas and David Ladley. Marilyn was a long time member of Greenfield Presbyterian Church where she played the organ for 40 years, until she became the guest organist at Lebanon Presbyterian Church. She loved her family, enjoyed golfing and going on family vacations. Marilyn will be dearly missed by all those who love her. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the JEFFERSON MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME, INC., 301 Curry Hollow Road, Pleasant Hills. A Blessing Service will be held in the Funeral Home's Chapel on Friday at 12 p.m. Interment at Lebanon Church Cemetery.
