REBECCA MAE (SHEETS) ISLER Loving wife, mother, and grandmother, 79 of Greensburg, passed away after a battle with cancer on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Rebecca was born October 28, 1939 in Frederick, Maryland. She graduated from Beaver Falls High School in 1957, and went on earning her nursing degree from Jameson College in 1959 and her BS in Nursing from Pennsylvania State University in 1984. She worked at North Hills Passavant Hospital, (now UPMC Hospital) for most of her life. On August 10th 1963 she married Robert J. Isler of Pittsburgh. They raised two sons, Robert Joseph, II and Michael Patrick. In life she worked incredibly hard, both at one point being a single mom and working a full time job. Rebecca or better known as Becky, loved to read and would often be seen with a book in her hand. She had an immense enthusiasm encouraging others to read. She also enjoyed traveling, having visited Paris, England, Germany, and around the U.S. She was even in Seattle, Washington during the 1962 World's Fair at the unveiling of the Space Needle. She also enjoyed learning about history. She was a collector of many things. She was known for sassiness, quick wit, and her humor. She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Ray Sheets and mother, Charlotte Sheets and is survived by her husband, Robert; her two sons and their wives, Robert and Dawn and Michael and Gisela; her six grandchildren, Denise, Alex, Dana, Brandon, Maggie, and Colton; brother, Kenneth Sheets; her sisters, Gerry Solberg and Harriet Fox. Per Becky's request, no service will be held. She has requested to be cremated. Her ashes will be interred at Forest Lawn Gardens, McMurray, PA. The family would especially like to thank the staffs of the Arnold Palmer Cancer Center, Excela Westmoreland, The Greater Pittsburgh Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Grane Hospice. RITA (SEIBEL) STOCKDALE Age 89, passed peacefully into her next life on Saturday, July 6, 2019. Rita was born and raised in Green Tree, Pennsylvania, and graduated from Dormont High School and Robert Morris Business School. After a career as a bookkeeper with Simmons Mattress and Moore Leonard and Lynch, she pursued her true calling as wife and mother. She married R. Charles (Charlie) Stockdale with whom she shared 53 years. She was a devoted, fierce, and loving mother to five children. Rita made homes with Charlie on three continents as his career took them overseas. Every house was filled with music and laughter, especially the home in South Park where Rita was hostess to bridge games, high school booster clubs, and international visitors from Global Pittsburgh. Rita's door was always open and there was always room for one more at her kitchen table. Though she was fortunate enough to travel the world, some of Rita's favorite memories were made in Western Pennsylvania, including watching the Pirates play at Forbes Field, listening to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall, or visiting Deer Valley Family Camp with her children and grandchildren. Rita had a gift for needlework of all kinds sewing, knitting, and crafting many beautiful items for herself and her family and friends. She is survived by children, Andrew (Betsy), Mitch, Molly (Chris Ott), Carrie (Jon Wachtel), and Justin (Karyn); grandchildren, Jonathan (Kayla), Caroline (Zach Stewart), Alex and Eric Ott, Ethan and Lily Wachtel, and Keely and Willa Stockdale; as well as her beloved nieces and nephews and dear daughter Sabah Karayegen Giraldo (Juan and son, Juan Efe). Rita was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Stockdale; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Florence Seibel; sister and brother-in-law, Verna and Ed Helwig; and sister, Mary Seibel. Born on August 30, 1931, he was the son of the late Josephine and Carmen Furgiuele. Joseph was the beloved husband of Nancy Rizzo Furgiuele for 63 years; the loving father of Jean (Arthur) Furgiuele Ernst, Joesph R. Furgiuele, Jr., Janet Furgiuele, Judith Furgiuele and Jennifer (Darin) Zywan; and cherished "papap" of Cameron, Broderick, Dylan, and Aiden Zywan. Joseph was also blessed with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Guy Mario and Angelo Ralph. Joseph was extremely proud of his family and will be dearly missed by all, including his dogs, especially Ralph. Joseph proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War aboard the USS Ingersoll and USS Cogswell. He was passionate about politics and watching Fox News. Joseph was bilingual, Italian was his first language. He loved The Godfather movies and knew all of the lines by heart. Joseph was a faithful Pittsburgh Steelers fan. JAMES E. DOWD, SR. Age 89, of Murrysville, passed away Saturday, July 6, 2019. He was born April 9, 1930 in Buffalo, NY; son of the late Thomas J. and Margaret (Burger) Dowd. Jim earned his B.A. Business degree at Canisius College, Buffalo, NY. He proudly served in the Navy during the Korean War. After the war, he entered the family business, Dowd Medical Service, in Wilkinsburg. Jim successfully transitioned his business into a thriving medical supply company, retiring in 1998 after 52 years. He was a founding member of the MED Group Association. He was a devoted Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid golfer. Jim enjoyed seasonal vacations with his wife in Fort Myers, Fl. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Dolores Mae (Sullivan) Dowd, affectionately known as Dody; a granddaughter, Colleen Albring; two brothers, Tom "Bud" and Jack Dowd, and his sister, Dorothy Sweeney. Beloved husband for 51 years of Cheryl (Uhouse) Stezoski; loving father of Brad (Stacey) Stezoski, Jason (Sharon) Stezoski and Bret Stezoski; fun-loving "pap" of Gabriel Stezoski, Quinn Stezoski, Amelia Stezoski, Chance Stezoski and Audrey Stezoski; little brother of Vern (Stezoski) Schiff and Theresa (Stezoski) Corso; and adoring uncle to many cherished nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Stezoski; his father, Albert Stezoski; and his siblings, Ann (Stezoski) Swisher, Mary Stezoski, Walter Stezoski, Theodore Stezoski and Joseph Stezoski. Bill worked for the University of Pittsburgh in the field of medical research for more than 50 years, starting as a lab technician in 1955. Bill contributed as a co-author to more than 50 publications in medical literature and helped mentor more than 30 research fellows. He was a rare individual who achieved a faculty position as a Research Assistant Professor at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine - despite not having a doctoral degree. His years of experience resulted in the collaborative creation of a mobile resuscitation device to save the lives of those in need. He was equally proud of his time as a Scout leader and Children's Choir director, just a couple of highlights of the many community and church groups he volunteered with over his lifetime. Bill was a former resident of Homestead and active parishioner of St. Januarius Church in Renton. His favorite place to be was outdoors, where fishing, golfing and exploring nature with his family and friends brought him immense joy. His belief in the goodness we all possess and a respect for everyone, no matter their position in this world, is what truly made him special. SR. CAROLINE GLATZ, OSF On July 9, 2019, age 94. Loving daughter of the late William and Caroline Glatz; sister of Frederick Glatz, William Glatz and the late Andrew Glatz, Paul Glatz, Sr. Irene Glatz, OSF, Margaret Glatz and Pauline Glatz. Sr. Caroline grew up in the East Liberty area and entered the community from Corpus Christi parish in East Liberty. She was a Sister of St. Francis for 77 years. Sister Caroline graduated with a B.A. and a M.A. in Elementary Education from Duquesne University. Sister Caroline's teaching profession centered for the most part around the little ones in first grade, with side trips into Kindergarten, second grade and ministering as principal at St. Scholastica School in Aspinwall. Sister Caroline's teaching career extended to working at Mt. Alvernia Day Care, first as group supervisor with 3-4 year olds and then in the infant room where in her quiet, unique way made both children and staff feel loved. Her love of little children was very evident throughout her teaching career, she said her love of little children stemmed from the child in her.
