GASSMAN WILLIAM G. “BILL” Age 91, Masonic Village, Sewickley, PA, died peacefully, Sunday, May 13, 2018. He was born to Joseph and Helen Gassman, December 18, 1926, in Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Franklin and Marshall College in 1947 after serving in the Army Air Force. Bill worked as a Chemist for Hamilton Watch Co. He later became the CEO of a national direct marketing fulfillment firm. With a lifelong love for choral music, Bill was noted for his low bass voice. His participation in several choral groups gave him opportunities to perform in many international countries. Always very active in church, Bill was most recently a member of The Sewickley Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Mary; four children, William, Jr., Robert, Andi (Bruce) Anderson and Jane (Thomas) Gregg; nine grandchildren and two great- grandchildren. A memorial celebration of his life will be on June 10, 2018, at 2 p.m. at the Masonic Village in Sewickley, PA. DILLON THOMAS FRANCIS Age 64, of Sarasota, Florida, formerly of Point Breeze, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 21, 2018. Tom was the beloved youngest son of the late James J. and Grace M. Dillon. He is survived by brothers, James (Shirley), Michael (Liz Boyle), John (Sandy) and the late Joseph and Patrick Dillon. Tom was a graduate of Central Catholic High School (1971) and Edinboro University of PA (1975). He worked for Ringling Brothers Barnum and Bailey Circus as a Trainmaster, Blue Unit, for ten years, then became Manager of Rail Operations for the remainder of his 30-plus year career. Tom loved his job and considered the people he worked with his second family. He enjoyed telling circus stories and people loved hearing them. At Tom's retirement party in 2016, Roy Fullgrapp, Tom's longtime friend and supervisor, proudly remarked "if Tom were an athlete, his number would be retired". That says it all about Tom's work ethic and ability. He cherished his childhood and college friends and enjoyed traveling with them. McCORKLE JAMES E. Jim, age 91, passed away on May 21, 2018. He served in the Army in World War II and retired from the Monn Conn Railroad as an electrician. Preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; and son, Bob. Her daughter, Theresa, continued the pizza shop for another 32 years. Carm was a hard worker who enjoyed cooking for her family and also enjoyed crossword puzzles and crocheting. She is survived by her devoted mother, Jackie Bonaddio DelleDonne; and her loving sister, Kiki DelleDonne, and Jack, AKA Dad; and her dogs, Nikko and Cheech; and her cat, Dooney. She was preceded in death by her Grammy, Josephine Bruno Bonaddio. Angela was employed as a PCT, in Critical Care, at McKeesport Hospital and as an administrator at The Lighthouse Personal Care Home, McKeesport. She recently obtained her license as a Personal Care Administrator. VULCANO FRANK L. Age 89, of Houston, Washington County, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018. He was born May 22, 1929, in Penowa, a son of Pasquale and Fliomena Donici Vulcano. Mr. Vulcano was a revered and respected local wrestling icon, having been inducted into seven halls of fame for his success. Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth J. Vulcano; sons, Gerald (Rebecca) Yarkosky, Jr., Frank (Susan) Vulcano, Jr., James (Beth) Vulcano, and Patsy Vulcano; daughter, Deborah (William) Olson; brother, Patsy Vulcano, of New Orleans; sister, Rosemary Vulcano, of McMurray; eight grandchildren, four great- grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Rocco, Joseph, and Jack Vulcano; and his sister, Theresa Zubert. GALDES MARY MARGARET Age 80, of Murrysville, passed away on Tuesday, May 22, 2018. She was born January 4, 1938, in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late Charles and Mary Cassidy Devlin. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her five children, John Merrill Hicks in 2013; and her second husband, Frank Galdes in 2017. She was also preceded in death by a son, Charles Patrick Hicks; and three brothers, James, Charles, and Thomas Devlin. Mary was a self-employed Certified Public Accountant and was also a member of Mother of Sorrows Church, Murrysville. For 41 years until her passing, she was a friend of Bill W., where she made a tremendous impact on others' recovery from alcoholism. She attended St. Thomas High School, Braddock, PA, and graduated with her Masters from Duquesne University, Pittsburgh, PA. She is survived by her children, John M. Hicks of Pittsburgh, Mary Martha Hicks of Murrysville, James Thomas Hicks of New York, and Joseph Gregory Hicks of Seattle; Mary is also survived by four grandchildren, Mark James Hicks, Shane Matthew Hicks, Casey Lee Hicks, and Etienne Cassidy Hicks; a great-granddaughter, LiliAnna Rose Hicks; and a brother, Peter J. Devlin of Greenbay, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 27, 2018, from 6-8 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the HART FUNERAL HOME, INC., Murrysville. Born September 27, 1928 in Pittsburgh, daughter of Dominic and Lucy (Chirico) DeFranco. A homemaker, Dolly was a member of Holy Sepulcher Church, WOW's, and volunteer with Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting, and was known for her love of family, church, and community. Beloved mother of nine children, Roseann (Robert) Rinaman, Gabriel (Claudia) Ciafre, John (Diane) Ciafre, Dennis (Bonnie) Ciafre, Anthony (Kris) Ciafre, Bernadette (Todd) Cress, Donna (Matthew) Wilson, Charles (Denise) Ciafre, and Dean (Lisa) Ciafre; sister of Connie Yelich, Betty Ann Hollihan, and Dominic DeFranco. BANKS DAVID GARDNER Age 93, of Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care in New Wilmington, PA, passed away at his residence on Monday, May 21, 2018. He was born on May 17, 1925 in the Bronx, NY to David Guild Banks and Carrie Gardner Banks. David graduated from Mamaroneck High School, Mamaroneck, NY in 1942 and later Cornell University in 1946. He married Martha May Bright on July 1, 1948 and she preceded him in death on February 7, 2015. David worked as a Chemical Patent Researcher and retired from Gulf Research and Development located at Harmarville, PA in 1983. He was a member of the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, the New Wilmington Kiwanis Club and a lifetime member of the American Chemical Society. Survivors include his son, David Gilmore Banks and wife, Roberta Lynn of New Wilmington; three grandchildren, Carrie Jane Banks, Roberta “Lynn” Edge and husband, Dan and David “Gordon” Banks; six great-grandchildren, Cecilia and Silas Sweeney and Elliott, Evie Everett, and Ellis Edge. In addition to his wife, he is preceded in death by sister, Elizabeth “Betty” G. Banks. Funeral Services will be at the New Wilmington Presbyterian Church, 229 S.
