MITCHELL VERNA M. On Monday, January, 22 2018, Verna M. Mitchell, formerly of Upper St. Clair, PA, passed away peacefully at the age of 84 years. Daughter of Francis Marion Moon and Nellie Frances Moon. Wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister. Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her brothers Dale and Paul; and her sisters Martha, Josephine, Thelma, and Wilma. She is survived by her brother, James; son, Eric (Kim), and four grandchildren Claire, Robert, William, and John. Born in Connellsville, PA, Verna spent her whole life in Western Pennsylvania. She was retired from Mellon Bank (Citizens) - a job she truly enjoyed and one that provided her an opportunity for lasting memories and friendships. Verna was a dedicated hockey fan and was known to frequently stay up late into the night watching West Coast games after Penguins games concluded. She also enjoyed cooking and the occasional Martini. Vodka, on the rocks, a "whiff" of Vermouth, and an olive. She was loved by many, and she will be missed. Viewing will be held at MILTON E. BISCHOFF LOIS ANN (LEY) Age 96, of Alexandria, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018. Born September 6, 1921, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late Norbert and Mary (Saunders) Ley. She married her beloved husband, George C. Bischoff on August 31, 1942, in Pittsburgh. They were married for nearly 64 years when he passed away on May 20, 2006. They had lived in West Deer, Ross and Shaler Townships. Lois was a devout Catholic and member of St. Sebastian's and St. Catherine of Sweden Roman Catholic Church before moving to Virginia in 2012. She is survived by her son, Jeff (Diane) Bischoff, of Alexandria, VA; four grandchildren, Kevin (Robyn) Bischoff, of Alexandria; Brian (Amanda) Bischoff, of Germany; Erin Bischoff and Dylan Bischoff, both of Alexandria and her two great- grandchildren, Kaelyn and Ryan. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by son, Dale P. Bischoff; siblings, Nancy Hofmann, Jane Peters and Jack Ley. MEDVICK CLARE ANN Clare Ann Medvick, 59, passed away on January 22, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy Darkowski. Clare was born and raised in Pittsburgh, but always dreamed of the beach. After graduating from nursing school, she headed to the warmth and sands of Virginia Beach, and her love of the beach never left. Although she resided in Chesapeake, her heart was in the Outer Banks, where she spent summers in Kitty Hawk, N.C. Her last two summers were spent volunteering at the N.C. Aquarium on Roanoke Island where she developed a new love for turtles and the NEST program. Clare was a registered nurse for 36 years and devoted her career to patient rights while working for several local Sentara hospitals and the Children's Hospital of the King's Daughter. Clare is survived by her husband of 35 years, Steve Medvick; three sons, Jason, Garrett and Kristian Medvick; and brother, Anthony Darkowski (Jennifer) of Pittsburgh. Mary Ann is survived by her son Larry (Cheryl) Stefan of West Mifflin; grandson Clinton Stefan of West Mifflin; and nieces Audrey (Jack) Resnik and Sylvia (John) Ugstandt. Born May 29, 1930 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late John Francis Linehan and Mary Katherine Naughton. Marie was a 60-year resident of Cranberry Twp. She was also a founding member of St. Ferdinand's Catholic Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be dearly missed. He was an avid golfer, traveled to many Navy squadron reunions, and loved being with family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
