ROLFSMEYER PEGGY L. Peggy (Ferson) Rolfsmeyer of Pawleys Island, South Carolina, died at home on Saturday, December 28, 2013 surrounded by loved ones. She was predeceased by her loving parents, Margaret (Morris) and James Ferson of Pleasant Hills, Pennsylvania. Peggy grew up in a suburb south of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and graduated from Clarion State College. She attended the University of Nebraska and ultimately received a MEd in Counselor Education from the University of Pittsburgh. In her professional career she taught in several elementary schools in Whitehall, PA and in Lincoln, NE, provided tutoring services while raising her children, worked as a therapist and counselor in both a community mental health facility and at a girls group home in the Pittsburgh area, taught graduate education courses for Performance Learning Systems in affiliation with a number of different colleges and universities in Michigan, Pennsylvania, Kansas, and Maryland and, prior to retirement, she served on the faculty of Rider University, Lawrenceville, NJ, where she taught various courses in teacher education and supervised student teachers. Peggy had a life-long passion for the teaching, guiding and development of children, youth and young adults. However, she always considered her most important role to be that of a faithful and loving wife to Gerald Jerry, as well as a loving and devoted mother to her two sons, Randall Randy of Pittsburgh, PA, and Michael Mike of Ferndale, MI and to Mike's wife, Kristen, the daughter of Peggy's heart. Peggy loved spending time with family and friends. She remained active in various churches and community activities as she and Jerry moved around the country, most recently at St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church, the Ginger Book Club and the Bunko Belles, all in Pawleys Island. She also enjoyed attending lectures at the Scholar's Forum in Georgetown as well as The Moveable Feast in Pawleys Island. She was an avid reader and a devotee of aerobic exercise and utilized Curves and her community swimming pool to that end. In addition to her husband of 45 years and her children, she leaves behind her only sibling, her sister Nancy of Pawleys Island, a constant and loving friend and confidante, as well as her niece, Heather of Kennesaw, GA; her nephew, Seth of Pawleys Island; extended family members throughout the United States and many dear friends in the Carolinas, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida. A celebration of her life will be held at St. Paul's Waccamaw UMC but there will be no burial service as Peggy and Jerry have requested that their cremains be scattered at sea together. David was born in Spangler on January 3, 1949, the son of the late Clair and Elizabeth Ann Miller Endler. David graduated from Cambria Heights High School and then served in the army from 1967-1970 during the Vietnam War. He continued his education from Cambria- Rowe Business College graduating in 1972. David married Ann Moyer Endler on September 22, 1973 for just over 40 years. David worked as an auto garage manager up until his illness. He enjoyed golf, landscaping, drawing, and spending time with his family. David is survived by his wife, Ann; his two sons, Joseph (Arlinda) and James (Lisa) Endler; his grandchildren, Sean and Zachary Endler; a brother, Theodore Endler (Alice); a brother-in-law, Warren Angus; and many loving nieces and nephews. BOYNTON JEFFREY M. Age 54, of Plum Borough, died Wednesday, January 1, 2014, of injuries sustained in a recent auto accident. Born in Pittsburgh on November 26, 1959, he was the son of Alan and the late Eileen Boynton. A 1978 graduate of Plum High School, Jeff was an outstanding athlete and was selected to play running back in the Big 33 football game. Recruited by several professional baseball teams and numerous colleges and universities, he signed a letter of intent to attend West Virginia University. In 2008, he was selected to the Plum Hall of Fame and his number remains the only one to have been retired by Plum High School. After suffering a serious injury in an all star game that left him in a wheelchair for the past 35 years, Jeff amazed all with his upbeat, engaging and uncomplaining attitude and spirit. In addition to his father, he is survived by his sister, Sharon and her husband Anthony of Plum; his brothers, Chris of Ashburn, Virginia, and Alan and his wife Virginia of Mechanicsburg, PA; 11 nephews and nieces; and innumerable friends. LASH JEAN KENNEDY Of Freedom, passed away on December 31, 2013 at Good Samaritan Hospice House, Wexford. She was the beloved wife of Rev. Robert S. Lash; and loving mother of Cheryl (Ronald) Wenner of Oklahoma, Mark (Lynda) Kennedy of Franklin Park, Timothy Kennedy of Erie, John (Carrie) Kennedy of McKean; and stepdaughters, Rita Lash of Melbourne, FL and Kathy ( William) Fuller of Brighton Heights; she also was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. She was dearly loved not only by family and friends, but members of her book club and two special people in her life, Jack and Kay Rimer. In addition to cherishing her role as a pastor's wife, she was a registered nurse and took great pride in being the first married women accepted into the Washington Hospital School of Nursing as a commuting student. For many years she was head nurse in the Coronary Care Unit of Monongahela Valley Hospital. A devout Christian and member of Dutilh United Methodist Church, she was an excellent Bible study teacher and musician, playing the organ and singing in a number of church and community choral groups. She was regarded by her family and friends as an exceptionally spiritual woman with extraordinary judgment and wisdom. MACZUZAK JOHN ANTHONY 72, died suddenly, on Fri., Dec. 27, 2013, following a brief illness. He most recently resided in Freedom, PA. John was born in Ellsworth, PA, to Peter and Catherine Maczuzak. An avid athlete, John was awarded a football scholarship in 1959 to attend the University of Pittsburgh, where he also played basketball. He was a member of Pitt's 1963 famed No Bowl football team before being drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs the following year. After one season, John returned to finish his B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Pitt, after which he joined the National Works of U.S. Steel in McKeesport, PA. During his 31 years with USS, John held several management positions, including general manager of USS Fairless Works (Fairless Hills, PA) and vice president of operations of USS/Kobe (Lorain, OH). He left U.S. Steel in 1996 and soon thereafter was appointed president and COO of National Steel Corp. at its Mishawaka, IN headquarters. He stayed at National Steel until its acquisition by U.S. Steel in 2003, after which he retired to Western Pennsylvania. John was preceded in death in 2006 by his wife of 42 years, Janet Hamilton Maczuzak. He is survived by his daughter, Amy of Pittsburgh; his son, John David; daughter-in-law, Cindy; and granddaughter, Kathryn of North Huntingdon; and his son, Vern of New York City. Other survivors include his companion, Rose Marie Wintermantel; three brothers, four sisters, and several nieces and nephews. Bruce Friedman; loving mother of Jordann (Jay DePasse) Friedman of Pittsburgh and Julian (Aya Nagoshi) Friedman of New York City; sister of Joan Herr, Patricia Carley, Yvonne Martin, Peg Kudelka, Annette Tedeski, and Gregory Kudelka; beloved Nanny of Lewis and Josephina DePasse; also survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
