TULLIUS JAMES M. Age 60, passed away surrounded by his loving wife and children on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, in Cumming, GA after battling cancer. Formerly of Crystal Beach, FL, Jim was born in McKeesport in 1955 and grew up in Clairton. He attended Serra Catholic High School and graduated with a BA in journalism from Penn State University. Jim began his successful career working for Busy Beaver in Pennsylvania, then to Home Depot where he was a district manager responsible for opening stores along the east coast. More recently, he was a manager of Lowe's in Clearwater, FL. When he was not working, Jim loved to spend time with his family. Sunday was his favorite day of the week, when he often prepared sauce and meatballs before watching his favorite team: the Pittsburgh Steelers. A loving husband and father, he will be dearly missed by his family. He joins his father, the late James E. Tullius, who passed away May 26, 2014. James is survived by his mother, Sylvia (DeFazio) Tullius of Clairton; his wife, Lisa (Barringer) Tullius of Crystal Beach, FL; son, James V. Tullius of Crystal Beach, FL; daughter, Rachel Tullius of Tallahassee, FL; his sisters, Sr. Sylvia Ann Tullius, OSF of Millvale, Patricia M. (Andrew) West of Clairton, Anita L. COHEN PEARL LEFKOVITZ Age 98, of Beatty Pointe Village, in Monroeville, died Tuesday, January 26, 2016, in Mt. Vernon, of Elizabeth. She was born April 15, 1917, in Pittsburgh and was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose Alex Lefkovitz who were both born in Szrensk, Poland, and immigrated to Pittsburgh. She was the wife of the late Edward R. Cohen; she is survived by her sons, Gary (Jackie) Cohen of Mt. Lebanon and Richard (Gretchen) Cohen of Elizabeth Township; grandchildren, Robyn Cohen (David) Brown, Matthew Cohen, Sarah Cohen, Rachel (David Isacco) Cohen and Adam Cohen; great- grandchildren, Abigayle and Parker Brown and Victoria Cohen. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Florence Rosenfeld and Beatrice Golanty. There is no visitation. WITTHOHN RONALD ERNEST Born August 29, 1933, died January 19, 2016. Ron Witthohn was born in Brooklyn, New York and passed away at 82 in Denver, Colorado. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Virginia Witthohn. He was a graduate of Tri-State University with a degree in Civil Engineering and Administrative Engineering. He served on various committees and was the former President of the Pittsburgh Chapter of American Concrete Institute (ACI). He worked on many Pittsburgh landmarks including the Fort Pitt Tunnel, Three Rivers Stadium and the U.S. Steel Building. Ron loved spending time with his family. As an avid Steelers fan, he enjoyed attending many games. He got as much pleasure planning trips all over the world as he did taking them. One of his favorite pastimes was his model trains. He spent countless hours setting up the trains in the family room for the holiday visits from friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Herta Witthohn; and his eldest son, Mark E. Witthohn. Ron is also survived by his sons, David W. Witthohn (Judy) of Golden, CO and Ronald L. Witthohn (Kim) of McKinney, TX. He was the loving grandfather to Lauren W. Cheek (Rick) of Pittsburgh, PA, Katelynn B. Witthohn of Suwanee, GA, Leah E. Kingzett (Bill) of Grove City, PA, Aaron M. Witthohn of Atlanta, GA, Alec R. Witthohn of Golden, CO, Melissa G. Ferris of Heeney, CO, Gordan F. Ferris of Golden, CO, Allison M. Ferris of Golden, CO; and great- grandfather to Quinn J. She was born to James Nassida, a steel worker, and Lillian Evans Nassida, a homemaker, on Jan. 15, 1949, in West Mifflin, PA. She is survived by her husband, John Colebank of St. George, Utah; son, James Colebank, a colonel in the U.S. Air Force, and wife, Gretchen of Washington, D.C.; David Colebank and wife, Christine of Irving, Texas; and daughter, Susan Stehle and husband, Jason of Durham, N.H. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Michelle and Callie Colebank, and Paige and Wyatt Stehle. She is survived by her sister, Lillian Horey of Upper St. Clair, PA; sister, Kathy Garrison of Bethel Park, PA; and brother, Thomas Nassida of West Mifflin, PA. He was a retired instrument technician for Power Piping in West Mifflin and also retired from Carnegie Natural Gas Company. A member of West Mifflin Community Baptist Church, James was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, a Democratic committeeman in West Mifflin, active member of West Mifflin #3 Volunteer Fire Department and Boy Scout leader. He also loved fishing, his dogs and spending time at Big Bear Lake Campland, in West Virginia. Born May 29, 1930, in Elkins, WV, he was a son of the late James E. Thompson, Sr. and Mary (Mercandino) Thompson. He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Watson) Thompson; children, Sandra (Alvin) Strauser of West Mifflin, James (Sharon) Thompson of Cincinnati, OH, Linda (Robert) Stinner of West Mifflin and Susan (Rick) Catalogna of West Mifflin; seven grandchildren, Ryan Strauser, Erik Strauser, Lauren Thompson, Sarah Thompson, Jessica Stinner, Robert Stinner and Katrina Catalogna; great- granddaughter, Haleigh Strauser; sister, June Fox of West Mifflin; nieces and nephews. Beloved father of Ronn, Paul (Katie) and Jeff (Brooke); grandfather of Jamie, Zoe, Brynn, Miles and Emily; son of the late Rose and Maier Brourman. Survived by brother, Harold (Phyllis) Brourman; sister-in-law, Judy Brourman; brother-in-law, David Dinkin; and beloved girlfriend, Molla Zimmerman. Predeceased by former wife of 29 years, Audrey Brourman; siblings, Sam (Leah) Brourman, Phillip (Elsie) Brourman, Della Fisher (Charlie), Sadie (Edwin) Blum, Saul (Helen Ruth) Brourman, LeeAnn Wolfson (Sam), Ida Freidman (Si), Irving (Bernice) Brourman and Betty Dinkin. Jacques attended college and played quarterback at Carnegie Tech (Carnegie Mellon) University. He continued postgraduate studies of music at The Juilliard School in New York City. He became an accomplished symphony conductor and through his career directed the Boise Philharmonic, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra and the New Orleans Philharmonic. He was also the founder and conductor of the Sun Valley Music Camp in Sun Valley, Idaho and the Bedford Springs Music Festival in Bedford, Pennsylvania. An artist with the baton, Jacques gave the extraordinary gift of music to so many. STANFORD NORMA D. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies on October 22, 1938, died from cancer on January 22, 2016. A resident of Fox Chapel for over 40 years, Norma was the owner of GST Company which will now be owned and operated by two of her grandsons. Norma immigrated to the United States in 1963, held a variety of positions, including technical writing and executive training for Westinghouse Corp. She later founded GST in 1987, a training company for asbestos and hazardous waste removal. Norma, the proud mother of three children, is survived by her children, eldest daughter, Donna Waldfogel (son-in-law, Dean Waldfogel); son, Mark Stanford (daughter-in-law, Carla Stanford); and youngest daughter, Gina Williams. She also leaves behind her 98 year old mother, Rose DaCosta; brothers, Eric and Sylvan DaCosta (sister-in-law, Barbara DaCosta); her six beloved grandchildren, Nicholas, Daniel, Christopher, and Michael Stanford, Kendyl and Blake Williams; two beloved step-grandchildren, Kirk Waldfogel and Courtney Waldfogel-Schwenck (husband, Jason Schwenck); and great-grandchildren residing in California. In addition to her love of her extensive family and treasured friends, Norma loved to cook, entertain, and travel. With a passionate, engaging, and feisty personality, Norma also had an adventurous spirit, ventured to many European countries, Central America, Korea, and embarked on exotic tours to Egypt and Israel. With a big heart, big smile, infectious laugh, and generous spirit, Norma served as a volunteer at St. Margaret's Hospital and served as a member of the Lions Club. She will be greatly missed by her friends and family. SHIVELY JOSEPHINE MARIE Of the South Hills, died on January 18, 2016, at the age of 80, of complications following a stroke. Josie moved to Pittsburgh after graduating from Spring Valley High School in New York. She majored in Anthropology at Pitt and enjoyed visiting Pittsburgh's museums and jazz clubs, attending poetry readings and living in Shadyside. After graduation, Josie began a series of jobs including working with autistic children, teaching second grade and serving as a caseworker at the Department of Public Welfare. Josie met her late husband, John, at the University of Pittsburgh and they were married in 1964. In 1975, their daughter, Jennifer was born. Jennifer, her husband, George, and their young sons live in the family home. Her hobbies and interests included the study of Chinese cooking, for which she earned a cooking school diploma in China in 1980, traveling abroad, and following politics.
