McCLELLAN REV. CLARE W. Clare, 87, of McDonald, Mt. Pleasant Twp., died Tuesday, November 24, 2015, in the Golden Living Center of South Hills. He was born May 26, 1928, in Dunn Station, PA a son of the late Ernest D. and Margaret Bowie McClellan. Rev. McClellan was a member of the Southern Baptist Church and had served several congregations in this area including First Baptist Church of Canonsburg, McDonald AME Zion Church and Imperial Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Cecil American Legion. He was a Korean War Army veteran. Surviving are his wife, Marian Balaban McClellan; daughters, Margaret (James) Horvath, Jr. and Dorothy (Thomas Coughenour) Merigo, both of McDonald; son, Michael McClellan of McDonald; brothers, Jake McClellan of Greene County and Ralph (Beverly) McClellan of Florida; sisters, Margaret Post of Greene County and Ester (Milton) Stump of Florida; he is also survived by seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, James, Ray and Ephriam McClellan; and one grandchild. CHRIST GEORGE N. On Tuesday, November 24, 2015, beloved husband of the late Elaine Christ. Born on August 11, 1925, a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh. Mr. Christ is survived by his two daughters, Deborah Zourdos (Christopher) and Penny Marcadante (Jeff); his four grandchildren, Christina Jackman (Thomas), Peter George Zourdos, George Pilafas (Francesca) and Michael Zourdos (Catherine); and two great-grandchildren, Sadie Elaine and Zachary; his sisters, Julie Chergotis (late Peter) and Penny Chirigos (Nicholas); and his in-laws, Sophia Randall, Demetra Craig and Arthur Dordas. A lifelong steward of St. Nicholas Cathedral, where he served as Treasurer of the Parish Council and started the successful St. Nicholas Greek Food Festival, Mr. Christ served honorably as a radio operator in a B-25 bomber during WWII, he returned to Pittsburgh to marry his high school sweetheart and founded Chris Candies, a chocolate manufacturing company. She was preceded in death by her parents, William L., Sr. and Ruth Fauth; and brother, William L. Fauth, Jr. Rita was a devoted mother and housewife for many years before attending and graduating from Robert Morris College with a bachelor's degree in Business and Teacher Education. She devoted her career to teaching blind students computer skills at Robert Morris and the Pittsburgh Guild for the Blind. Upon retirement, Rita was a tireless volunteer translating college textbooks into braille. She enjoyed extensive traveling with her husband and children. An accomplished seamstress, she sewed school and party dresses for her daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters. Knitting was a favorite pastime and Rita passed this skill onto her daughters. She took great joy in her flower gardens and loved the spring time. JOHNSON WILLIAM D. Age 80, of the North Hills, went home to be with his Lord, surrounded by his loving family and friends, on Sunday, November 22, 2015, from Good Samaritan Hospice, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. Bill was born in Granite Falls, NC on August 25, 1935, to the late Kaylor White and Virginia Dare (Beck) Johnson, who later married Bill's stepfather, Earl Dee Dee Roxbury. Beloved husband for 31 and a half years of Janet (Peters) Johnson; loving father of William D. Johnson, Jr. (Joyce), Barbara Kuder (John); devoted grandfather of Derek and Cole Weikart, and Arianna and Dakota Johnson. Bill was preceded in death by his son, Stephen; daughter, Susan and their mother, Joyce (Sellman) Johnson; and brothers, Ted and Max Johnson. Bill and his family moved to Pittsburgh when he was eight years old. He started in the printing industry at the age of 15 with Herbick & Held Printing Co., attended classes specific to the printing at Carnegie Mellon and Penn State Barron Campus. After 35 years with Herbick & Held Co., he became a partner of Caslon Press and retired as VP of Sales for Superior Litho, Inc., all in Pittsburgh. He was an active member of West View United Methodist Church, a board member of The Printing Industry of Pittsburgh and served on many committees over the years. He was a trustee for the GCC/IBT Local 24 M and the Printing Industry Union Multi Employer Retirement Fund. He has a history of serving the Graphic Arts Industry that he loved, for more than 65 years. Bill will be remembered for his very quick wit, humor and charm. He was an amateur boxer in his youth. He enjoyed all sports, especially boxing, golf and his hometown teams. Services were private. Arrangements by COPELAND'S.
