BURKHARDT COLLEEN JANE Age 88, of Monroeville, passed away on Saturday, November 14, 2015. She was born on October 28, 1927, in Johnstown, PA, to the late Joseph and Anna Heeney. Beloved wife of the late Dean H. Harshberger and the late Richard I. Burkhardt. She was the loving mother of James D. Harshberger (the late Donna), Richard J. Burkhardt, Timothy C. Burkhardt (Lori), Kurt F. Burkhardt (Tammi), John “Jack” Burkhardt (Tracie), and the late Kevin F. ”Rocky” Burkhardt and Marilyn Burkhardt. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Colleen graduated from Johnstown High School in 1945 and from the University of Pittsburgh's School of Nursing in 1949. She was a retired head nurse at Magee Women's Hospital. She was a founding member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and a longtime member of the Ladies of Charity and the Women's Guild. Beloved husband of the late Nancy (Burley) Lisanti; father of Lisa Lisanti of Sewickley, Julia L. (Stephen) Zoretich of Greencastle, PA, Anthony F. (Melissa) Lisanti, Jr. of Mechanicsville, MD, Michael J. (Suzanne) Lisanti of Sewickley and Christina L. (Phil) Han of Ellicott City, MD; grandfather of Antonio, Marco, Natalia, and Tessa Juliano, Alexander, Nicolai and Mikail Zoretich, Anthony, Dominic, Alaina, Nathaniel and Gabrielle Lisanti, and Giana and Sabrina Han; brother of John Lisanti of Tiburon, CA and the late Patricia Stilwell. Anthony was a Lieutenant in the US Navy, a graduate of Penn State University in Engineering and was a Civil Engineer and CEO of Chester Engineers. TANG LILLIAN YU-DJANG (MAO) Age 92, born November 16, 1923, in Nanjing, China to Mao Yisheng and Dai Chuanhui, died on Nov. 18, 2015, at Friendship Village. Formerly of Bethel Park. Received bachelor's of pharmacy from Western United College in Chengdu, China in 1946 and a BS in chemistry from National Zhejiang University in 1947. Received Canadian Red Cross Fellowship in 1948-1949, gave her financial means to leave China and come to US. Authored articles in the Journal of Chinese Pharmacy and the Journal of American Pharm. Assoc. Served as drug advisor to the Pgh. Organization of Chinese Americans. Earned MS in pharmacy in 1949 from University of Wisconsin where she met her husband. Married Yu-Sun Tang on June 9, 1950, in Gainesville, FL. Pursued Ph.D. in Chemistry at the University of Florida 1949-1952, but did not complete due to husband's move to New Jersey. Was pharmacist throughout her life: from 1952 in New Jersey; Indiana University Medical Center, 1961-1966; Thrift Drug Co in retail 1968-1970; Mayer's Drug Store 1971-1978; Meisner Pharmacy 1978-1981; Ta-Kung Po, Medical/Drug Info Update, writer 1982-1985; Methodist Home relief pharmacist, 1984-1986; Pharmacist Relief Service, Consultants Inc, Latrobe relief pharmacist, 1986-1990; Baldwin Court Inc relief pharmacist 1991 until she retired in Pittsburgh, PA. Member of First Bethel United Methodist Church. She did flower arranging as a hobby and made arrangements for church. Surviving are son, Paul C. Tang (wife, Lynnellen Miles grandchildren, Karisa and KellyAnne); daughter, Elaine Tang Lee (husband, Stephen E. Lee, grandchildren, Michelle and Chrissy); and son, John C. Tang (wife, Jean Hsia, grandchildren, Julia and Joanna). Preceded in death by oldest sister, Mao Yu-Mei, oldest brother, Mao Yu-Yueh, older brother, Mao Yu-Run, younger sister, Mao Yu-Dong, still surviving youngest sister, Mao Yu-Yan and half-sister, Mao Yu-Lin. Spent entire life giving to others and was main force in reuniting her family for any special occasion. Famous father Mao Yisheng had statue dedicated to him at Carnegie Mellon Univ. as first recipient of a Ph.D. of then Carnegie Tech and MS at Cornell. He was most famous for engineering a bridge in Hangzhou, China which was deemed “impossible to build”. All about family whether cooking ten dish dinners or organizing family get-togethers. Was second mother for nieces and nephews who immigrated to the US. Overcame extremely difficult childhood to make her own children's lives totally the opposite: loving, caring, and nurturing. She was born November 16, 1929, in Clairton, PA, daughter of the late Fred Lee Battle, Sr. and Luvenia Williams Battle. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Broddie, Jr. She was a retired LPN from Montefiore Hospital with 18 years of service and worked another five years as a child care provider. She was a faithful member of the United Vision Baptist Church of Pittsburgh. Surviving are her children, Silko Renaldo Thomas of Waldorf, MD, Antoinette Thomas of Whitaker, PA, and Mary Elizabeth (Doug) Man of Old Bridge, NJ; eight grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren; sisters, Willa Mae (Rudolph) Jones of Cleveland, OH and Agnes Taulton of Clairton; brother, Joseph Randall of Clairton; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many friends. LENARD JOSEPHINE E. (WISNIOWSKI) Age 91, of Bellevue, passed away in peace and serenity with her daughter, Joan, and son, Henry, Jr. at her bedside in St. Margaret's Hospital on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Josephine was a loving mother and an amazing grandmother. Her optimism and sense of humor was inspiring and refreshing. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; daughter, Marcia Katterhenry; and brother, Paul Wisniowski. In addition to Joan Allen and her husband, Robert, and Henry Lenard, Jr. and his wife, Helen, she is survived by five grandchildren, Jason Katterhenry (Laura), Jeffrey Katterhenry (Kiri), Kendall Allen, Chase Allen and Henry Lenard III; sister, Dorothy (Harry) Wonderling and son-in-law, Louis Katterhenry. Josephine was born in Pittsburgh's Woods Run neighborhood on July 13, 1924, and graduated from Oliver High School. She was a shining light to all who knew her. Josephine worked for many years as payroll manager for Schaffner Manufacturing Co. in Emsworth. She was also very active for a number of years in numerous civic and charitable organizations in the North Boroughs, including the Christian Mothers of Assumption Church, Emeritus, North Suburban Adult Services, Community Club of Emsworth and the Suburban General Hospital Senior Auxiliary. A private viewing for immediate family members will be held on Monday, November 23, 2015, at LAWRENCE T. CLARK MAUREEN JOAN Age 77, of South Park, PA, formerly of Brookline, PA passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Born on April 8, 1938, in Pittsburgh, PA she was the daughter of the late James and Margaret Carr. Loving mother of Matthew (Veronica), Scott (Deborah), Kurt (Dawn) and Christine Lewis and dear sister of Rosemary Kurtz; cherished grandmother of Jonathan, Stephanie, Jordan, Cory, Ashley, Timothy, Max, Lily, Victoria and Erika. Also blessed with many nieces and nephews. Maureen was a loving sister, mother, grandmother and a dear friend to many. Maureen also loved planting, cooking, donating to various charities and she was a devout practicing Catholic. Maureen enjoyed raising and breeding the top Great Danes in the nation. She created a legacy bloodline of champion dogs known as "Sharcon Great Danes." She owned, operated and managed Parkview Kennels in South Park, PA. Maureen was a true legend in the Great Dane Community. Her family is very proud of her for not only following her passion in life, but also turning it into a successful career. Wife of loving husband and best friend, William N. (Red) Baker; sister of Dr. J. Richard Zelonka and dear sister-in-law, Nancy; daughter of the late John and Marie Zelonka. Also mourned by close and devoted friends. Barb had a 42-year career at Mellon Financial Corporation, commencing in Corporate Trust in 1963 and ending in Corporate Crisis Management. She always considered Mellon to be “the best employer in Pittsburgh” and her co-workers to be the best of the best, many of whom remained lifelong friends. CRIST JOSEPH GEORGE Died on Wednesday, November 18, 2015. Beloved husband of Rosemary Crist and father of Mary Rose Callain, Marjorie Crist, and the late Joseph T. Crist; grandfather of Carolyn, Megan, Julia, and Rosemary, and deceased quadruplets, Joseph, Patrick, Mairead and Roisin; brother of Margaret Buesser and the late Harold Crist; and brother-in-law of Thomas Delahanty and Robert Buesser. His parents were Henry and Margaret Sheehy Crist. Joseph was born on March 3, 1930, in Paterson, NJ. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame and received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Pennsylvania State University. He was a member of the American Chemical Society, the Notre Dame Club of Pittsburgh, and the Penn State Alumni Association. After receiving his doctorate from Penn State, he was granted a Fellowship at Mellon Institute in Pittsburgh and later worked in research and environmental areas for United States Steel for 29 years. He had been a parish lector and taught CCD, and in his retirement years enjoyed taking classes at the University of Pittsburgh and serving as a volunteer income tax preparer.
