BURDICK GERALD CLARK Passed away, peacefully, on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, at the age of 89, in Pittsburgh, PA, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Jerry was born in Bushnell's Basin, New York, grew up in the Rochester, New York area and after graduating from Pittsford High School, enlisted in the Navy, serving four years of active duty as a Seabee in the South Pacific during World War II. After honorable discharge, he married Beverly Jean LeRoy and graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York, with a B.S. degree in Economics and Industrial Relations. Jerry had a fulfilling and accomplished career as Director, Industrial Relations at Mesta Machine Company, Homestead, PA. He was a lifelong active member of the Episcopal and Anglican churches. He shared his keen intelligence, sense of humor, and many interests with his family and friends, including his passions for reading good literature, studying history, and spending time outdoors, gardening, bird-watching, hiking and fishing. He leaves a legacy of an intelligent life well lived with faith in God and love for family. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Beverly; daughters, Amy Crane (Thomas), Linda Plumb (Mark) and Nancy Burdick of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Allison Kelly (Sean) of Vancouver, Washington, Ryan Crane, Pittsburgh and Michael Plumb (Kelly) of Centreville, Virginia; great-grandsons, Adam Woodley and Colin Plumb; brother, Don Burdick (Pat) of Victor, New York; nephews and nieces, Thomas Burdick (Joan), Dorothy Caswell (Jim), Anne Whalen (Kendall) and Michael Burdick (Eileen). Born on March 2, 1935, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Homer H. and Mary Thompson Brown. He graduated from Oliver High School, where he was a member of the swimming team. Homer proudly served his country for ten years with the National Guard in the States of Pennsylvania, Maryland and Virginia. After 33 years of service, Homer retired from Trans World Airlines in 1989. He is survived by Dorothy Eonda Brown, his loving wife of 58 years; his three godsons, Kevin McAllister, Brian McAllister and Jonathan Isaacs; and three special cousins, Nancy Thompson Worstell, Charlene Thompson Madera and Ruth Thompson Westman. He was a member of Elks Lodge 2309 in Gambrills, MD. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public visitation or service.
