BRUECKMAN PEARL EVELYN Age 101, passed away early Sunday morning, July 19, 2015, at Royal Park Rehab Center. Born in Sagamore, PA, on January 10, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Selma Carlson Gustafson. Prior to relocating to the Charlotte area from Kenmawr, PA, Pearl was a member of the Kenmawr Presbyterian Church in Kennedy Township and also volunteered with Meals-On-Wheels. At one time she had worked in the cafeteria at Ohio Valley Hospital in McKees Rocks, PA. Preceding her in death in 1976 was her husband, Charles A. Brueckman. Survivors include three children, JoAnn Janney of Atlanta, GA, Charles W. Brueckman of Charlotte, NC and James Brueckman of New Carlisle, Ohio. In addition to her children, there are ten grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. A memorial service is planned for a later date. LERSCH A. MARIAN Age 87, became at peace on July 16, 2015. Marian was the daughter of the late G. Fred Kohler and the late Alice M. (Evans) Kohler; and is survived by her brother, Ronald Kohler and his wife, Sally Kohler. She was the loving wife of Edward G. Lersch; mother of Nancy Lersch Sillitti and Alice Mullen and her husband, William Mullen; and grandmother of Patrick Mullen and Christie Mullen; she is survived by many nieces and nephews. Marian was a very active member of Beulah Presbyterian Church in Pittsburgh, PA for over 58 years. She was a Deacon at Arlington Heights Presbyterian Church and Beulah Presbyterian Church. She contributed to Meals on Wheels, Munchin with the Minister, ushered, and did many other church activities. She was involved in Girl Scouts for 20 years. Marian was known for enjoying the outdoors and her great sense of humor. She will be missed by many loved ones. A memorial service will be held in private. McCOMBS RICHARD L. Age 90, of West Mifflin, formerly of Uniontown, PA, died peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at his home. He was born on September 24, 1924, in Uniontown, a son of George P. and Ellen (Rutter) McCombs. Richard was the much beloved husband of 68 years to A.W. (Swift) McCombs; loving father and best friend to son, Randy McCombs of Pittsburgh; grandfather of Mackenzie Tyer of Stowe, VT; and brother of G. Edwin McCombs of Florida. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Lindsay (Tyer). Richard graduated from Uniontown High School in 1942. After beginning his studies at Penn State University, he enlisted in the United States Army in 1943 serving as part of General George S. Patton's 3rd Army during World War II. Within a month of his return from his service in the Army, Richard met his future wife, A.W., at the local drug store and soda shop. This chance meeting resulted in a romance of 68 years with the love of his life. Richard and A.W. moved to State College where he finished his degree in engineering, graduating in 1949. Upon graduation, Richard began a 46 year career at the Monongahela Connecting Railroad and later the LTV Railroad Systems. After starting out as a draftsman, his continued hard work and contributions in leadership resulted in a promotion in 1988 to Vice President of Operations for the Six LTV Railroads and being appointed to its Board of Directors. In 1994, he was promoted to Senior Vice President of the LTV Railroads with his retirement in 1995. Richard was a great man of faith and a longtime, active member of the Pleasant Hills Community Presbyterian Church. He served the church in various roles: past President of the Board of Trustees, Clerk of Session and chaired numerous pulpit search committees. Outside of his faith and family, Richard's next love was the game of golf. He was a member of South Hills Country Club for over 39 years where he had so many enjoyable times with friends and family including a hole-in-one on #7. Richard held past positions and memberships in various organizations including: Sigma Pi fraternity, The Pennsylvania Railroad Association, Pittsburgh Railway Club, Past President of the Cleveland Roamers, the Planning Commission for the Borough of West Mifflin, Board of South Hills Country Club, Board of LTV Railroad System. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of the Pleasant Hills-Guthrie Lodge # 509 and rose through the ranks of The Commandery and The Shrine, joining the Royal Order of Jesters. Richard was a true gentleman, respected by many, who genuinely loved his friends, family and church. He will be missed by many including his loving wife and grateful son. BRESLIN MARY ANN Age 81, of Hopewell Twp., passed away Sunday, July 19, 2015, in her home. Born July 2, 1934, in Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Rosalia (Mader) Baumgarten. Mrs. Breslin was a longtime employee of J.W. Hall's Restaurant in Hopewell Twp. where she was the daylight manager and hostess, for over 30 years. Mary Ann was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Hopewell Twp., where she served as Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Christian Mothers. She was also a saleswoman for Mary Kay Cosmetics. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James J. Breslin in 2007; and sister, Nancy Baumgarten. Surviving are three sons, and daughters-in-law, James P. and Janet Breslin, Timothy and Jocelyn Breslin, Patrick and Leslie Breslin; three daughters and a son-in-law, Ellen Strano, Laura and Gary McLaughlin, Mary Ann Breslin; 14 grandchildren, Carmela (Michael), Lauren, James, Gabriel (Alyssa), George (Sarah), Neil (Lauren), Timon, Dana (Joe), Kayla (Chris), Michael, Cole, Connor, Colin, Emily; a great-grandson, Lucas; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank and Lenny Baumgarten, Ron and Sandy Baumgarten, Rich and Kathy Baumgarten; and many loving nieces and nephews. Fabian, the love of her life of 45 years. She was preceded in death by her son, Brendan C. Fabian, on November 4, 2002. She is also survived by her two sisters, Leslie (Daniel) Champ, of Beaver, PA and Diane (Lanny) Guthrie, of West Palm Beach, FL; brother-in-law, Ralph "Bud" Fabian, of Chicago, IL; two nieces, Danielle Champ, of Beaver and Heidi Swing, of West Palm Beach; and nephew, Matt Fabian, of Phoenix, AZ. Janet was born February 12, 1951, in Pittsburgh, PA, daughter of the late Donald and Georgia Deffenbaugh. She was a resident of Wexford for 32 years and co-owner of Fabian Real Estate and Appraisal, a practicing attorney and state certified approved appraiser and an associate broker at Deffenbaugh Real Estate. She was a member and past elder and deacon of Wexford Community Presbyterian Church where she was active as a Sunday school teacher and bible study leader. She was a graduate of Beaver Area High School, Geneva College and Valparaiso University School of Law. Admitted to Indiana Bar in 1978 and Pennsylvania Bar in 1981. She was past worthy advisor and past state treasurer for International Order of Rainbows Association of Wayne Chapter 42 and member of the Eastern Star. Dolan and Kathryn (Martin) Dolan. Philip graduated from Duquesne University, where he was part of the ROTC Program. Following graduation, he served in the U.S. Army. He subsequently obtained his MBA from Wheeling Jesuit University. Phil retired from Weirton Steel and following his retirement, enjoyed teaching business and math courses at numerous local colleges. Surviving are his wife, Rosemary Dolan; daughter, Amy (David) Dolan Strano of Pittsburgh; and two beloved grandsons, Chip and Joey. He is also survived by a brother, Richard E. He was employed by Paychex, Greentree as a Human Resource Specialist for many years and was President of the Human Resource Association. He was a member of Mt. St. Peter R.C. Church, New Kensington, and was a Robert Morris Alumni. He enjoyed cooking, traveling, crosswords and especially spending time with his family and grandchildren. Morrone Rushnit; beloved wife of the late August “Augie” DeGiovanni, Jr.; devoted mother of Mark DeGiovanni (Donna) and Dr. Lesley DeGiovanni (Dr. John Montini); loving grandmother of Kristin Perry (Chad), Matthew DeGiovanni (Ann Sophie) and Casey DeGiovanni (Jen); great-grandmother of Ella Marie Perry, Chase Robert Perry and River Marie DeGiovanni; dear sister of Angela Garofoli (the late Dr. Caesar); sister-in-law of Arthur DeGiovanni and Margaret Colella; also survived by her many nieces and nephews. Mrs. DeGiovanni graduated from Carnegie Tech with a double-major in Music and Education. She started teaching in the Elizabeth Forward School District, but spent most of her career as a music teacher at Barrett Elementary in the Steel Valley School District. She sang for many years in the choir at St. Anne Church. Mrs. DiGiovanni was an accomplished piano player, and gave private lessons in her home. She was devoted to her family and was passionate about her students.
