COPPAGE CONNIE S. Age 69, of Spring Garden Township, York, formerly of Pittsburgh, died at 7:55 a.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at York Hospital. She was the wife of the late John R. Coppage III. Born October 25, 1944, in Anderson, South Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Emmett Sanders and the late Bernice (Stewart) Newberry. She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in education. Connie was a passionate advocate of learning and spent the lion's share of her career as an admissions counselor helping others to pursue their goals in higher education. She was a strong, vibrant, independent woman of grace who never flinched in the face of adversity, and whose compassion served all those who knew her. She loved being a Grammy to her grandchildren more than anything in the world and valued family above all. She will be dearly, dearly missed. Mrs. Coppage is survived by a son, John R. Bob Coppage IV, and his wife, Laura, of York; a daughter, Katherine A. Kate Coppage, and her husband, Timothy Pedder, of York; and six grandchildren, John R. Bobby Coppage V, Taylor M. Coppage, Matthew J. Coppage, Samantha Coppage, Ethan Coppage and Kate Coppage. A viewing will be held 6:30-8:00 p.m. Friday, September 26, 2014, at KUHNER ASSOCIATES FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 863 South George Street, York. Burial will be in Brookfield Cemetery, Brookfield, Ohio. Connie was a voracious reader and lover of books.
