Bill was a car enthusiast who enjoyed his antique Mustang and his yellow Jeep. He served as general manager at Rohrich Mazda on West Liberty Avenue over the last six years. KHALIL YASSEMINE Age 70, of Baldwin Boro, on Monday, September 22, 2014, passed peacefully surrounded by all of her children after a courageous battle with cancer. Wife of the late Elias Khalil; beloved mother of Josephine (Merwan) Aboud, Jamil (Odeese) Khalil, Nasra (Najib) Aboud, Lina (Joudat) Makhoul, Georgette Farah, Hannah (Mazen) Kahwash, Atallah (Jamie) Khalil, Firas (Jillian) Khalil and Johnny Khalil; dear sister of the late Wadih and the late Elias, Naiem, Amaleen and Nuhad Nadour; also survived by 24 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Yassemine enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was well known for her wise words and always giving prayers to others. She loved to laugh and make people smile. BOOTH THELMA R. “TOMMY” Age 91, of Pittsburgh, formerly of Vienna, WV, on Saturday, September 20, 2014. Widow of John C. “Buck” Booth, her beloved husband of 65 years, who died in 2009. She is survived by her son, Douglas C. Booth and his wife, Susan Wadsworth-Booth; her granddaughters, Margaret X. Booth and Ann-Louise X. Booth; and a sister, Elizabeth “Betty” (Murphy) Williams. Tommy worked in the light bulb factory at Westinghouse in Fairmont, WV, during World War II. She was later the mail room supervisor for Ohio Valley College in Vienna, WV, retiring in 1986. In 2010, the college honored her and her husband by establishing the “Booth Campus Post Office.” She was a member of the North Hills Church of Christ in Pittsburgh. BARTO WILLIAM J. "BILL" Age 92, of Liberty Borough, PA was called home to be with the Lord on September 22, 2014. Born on December 18, 1921, in Duquesne, PA, Bill was the son of the late Andy and Elizabeth (Popovich) Barto. His wife of 63 years, Helen (Janus) Barto preceded him in death in 2011. Bill was a retired expeditor from U.S. Steel Duquesne Works after 42 years of employment. As a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II, he served in the South Pacific. Bill was also a proud member of the 1939 graduating class of Duquesne High School. He was a founding member of St. Eugene Church (now St. Mark Parish) in Liberty Borough where he served as an usher and volunteer for church functions for many years. Bill was also a member of the Port Vue Senior Citizens Club and a former member of the Swedish Singing Society. He and his wife also loved to travel, especially to Florida, Las Vegas and Hawaii. Surviving are his daughter, Joanne Barto-Hanlon (Larry); stepdaughter, Gina Oslick (Tommy); sister, Irene Betz; sister-in-law, Mary Slafka; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. The family would like to thank the staffs at both Seneca Manor and Seneca Place for taking such good care of Bill for the past three and a half years. A special thanks goes to Terry, Nancy, Carol, and Chester at Seneca Manor and the whole staff of the 4th floor at Seneca Place, especially Bill, Aretha, Lori, Dana, Dacia, Terry and Kathy along with Paula the Unit Manager. At Bill's request, there will be no visitation. Friends and family are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mark Church (Liberty Borough site) at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 25, 2014. Everyone please meet at the church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Port Vue. FLECK MARY (HOYAS) Age 94, of Ernest, PA, died peacefully, with her family at her side on Monday, September 22, 2014, at Forbes Hospital, Monroeville. Born in Coral, PA on September 8, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Hoyas and Helen (Macey) Hoyas. She was the widow of Layard Leroy “Pouch” Fleck, who died September 14, 2006. She and “Pouch” moved to Ernest to raise their family while he worked in the coal mines. Mary worked for Aramark at IUP for many years. She was very active in the Church of the Resurrection, Ernest. Mary is survived by her sons, Ronald Fleck and wife, Dorothy, Murrysville and Larry Fleck and wife, Sue, North Carolina; other survivors include her sister, Jane Adams, Maryland; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Steve, John and Joe Hoyas, Helen Schruba, and Catherine Canton.
