CONWAY DOROTHY M. “DOT” BOOK Age 90, of New Wilmington, PA, formerly of Wexford, PA, where she lived for 49 years, passed away at Shenango Presbyterian Senior Care in New Wilmington, PA on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, in the morning. She was born on December 1, 1923, to Frank Everett Book and E. Joy Allison Book. She married Duane “Jake” Lonsdale Conway on August 10, 1956. He preceded her in death on April 22, 2009. She went to the Zion School, which was a one- room school in Worth Township, Butler County, for the first through the eighth grades. She then went to Harlansburg High School graduating in 1942. Dot went to Slippery Rock State Teachers College and graduated in 1946. She taught 4th grade for 35 years including from 1946 – 1956 in New Brighton, and from 1956 to 1981 at Northgate School, Avalon-Bellevue. She and her husband, Jake, wintered in Florida after their retirement at North Ft. Myers, FL. She was a member of the Ingomar United Methodist Church and had presently been a member of the Zion Baptist Church in Worth Township. Dorothy loved to write and receive letters and always enjoyed a good visit from family and friends. Survivors include her sister, Margaret J. “Peggy” Holben of Slippery Rock; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Conway of Slippery Rock; four nieces, Holly Lindey and husband, Mike, of Slippery Rock; Mary Jo Burglund and husband, John, of Cranberry Twp., PA; Mary Wiles and husband, Wood, of Cumming, GA; and Jane Malick and husband, Dave, of Pittsburgh. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brother-in-laws, Dean Holben and John Conway. Funeral Services will be at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Thomas Meling, pastor of the Zion Baptist Church and Rev. James McCandless, a dear family friend, presiding. Family will receive friends at the SMITH FUNERAL HOME on Friday, September 12, 2014, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 10:00 a.m. until time of Service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in Zion Baptist Cemetery, Worth Township, Butler County. NEWRANSKY VERNE (OROSZ) Born August 28, 1918, of Munhall, PA, died peacefully at the Aberdeen Nursing Home in Trenton, Michigan, on September 3, 2014. Beloved wife of the late Wasil; loving mother of Melvyn (Patricia) and Carol Fenyus (Late John); loving grandmother of Darlene, Kevin, Mark (Nikki), Chrisann (Jose Suaya), Jon (Kim Dudich), Bethany (William Wolf); proud great-grandmother of James, Mark, Jr., Amanda, Violetta; sister of the late Ann, Helen, Mary, John, and Steve. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining for her family and friends, crocheting, playing Bingo, volunteering at Life Span Senior Center of Homestead, St. John's Cathedral Center, and with the Rosary Society at St. Rita's Church. She also spent time visiting nursing homes and praying with patients, leading tours to Atlantic City with Debolt Travel of Homestead, and acting as recording secretary of the Western PA Polka Pals and Gals. She will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends of the Munhall Gardens and Homestead communities. Funeral arrangements are private. KAMINSKI ROBERT CHARLES Age 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9, 2014. Robert “Bob” was born in Pittsburgh, PA in 1934, to Mildred and Charles Kaminski. Bob was a Navy veteran and moved his family to Cape Canaveral in 1980 to be part of history, joining the Space Shuttle program. He was an engineer and a dedicated government employee. He retired in 1995 and spent the rest of his life dedicated to his wife and traveling the world. He is survived by his wife, Virginia (Ginny); his daughters, Holly and Sheri; his sons, Mark and Ronny; his brothers, Chuck and Ken; his sister, Fran; and his five grandchildren, Tim, Jessica, Julia, Chase, and Neil. A Celebration of Life will be held at BEACH FUNERAL HOME, Indian Harbour Beach, FL on Saturday, September 13, 2014, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church. Marnik; loving mother of Steve (Carol) Marnik, Jim (Donna) Marnik, Judy (Mike) Kirk, Mary Sue (Dan) Haynes and Tom (Wendy) Marnik; sister of Frank and Rosemary Marchilena. Katherine was a longtime member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, where she was a member of the Christian Mothers and volunteered much of her time. She also volunteered at the Jubilee Soup Kitchen. STIERHEIM JAMES R. Age 88, of Kennedy Twp., husband of the late Ellen F. (Rose) Stierheim for 63 years, died Friday, September 12, 2014. Son of the late Norman L. and Leone M. (Wiehe) Stierheim; brother of the late Norma A. Stierheim, Robert C. Stierheim, Mrs. Grace O'Keefe and Mrs. Leona Gardner. He leaves behind his children, Charles N. (Claudia), Barbara E. Koller (Jerome), Susan M. Traurig (Robert), Nancy L. Carnright and James E. (Karen); 11 grandchildren; also survived by great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and nephews. Mr. Stierheim was in the U.S. Army in World War II, served in the Pacific (Philippines) and was later employed by the Sears Roebuck and Company for many years as a warehouse superintendent (Lawrenceville). He was an avid Steelers fan, model airplane builder and flyer as well as model trains. GREIN CLIFFORD T. Age 92, of Finleyville, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014, at Mt. Vernon of South Park Assisted Living Center. He was born October 1, 1921, in Munhall, a son of Clifford and Ruth Evans Grein. Mr. Grein was retired as a technician with the U.S. Department of Energy's Pittsburgh Technology Center in Bruceton. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of American Legion Post 613 in Finleyville and South Hills Lodge #761, F & A.M. in Bethel Park. ROE JOSEPHINE A. “JOANN” With her family by her side on Wednesday, September 10, 2014, Josephine A. "JoAnn", age 77, of Crafton, passed peacefully from a sudden illness into the next life. In the 58 years that Josephine Ann Naples Roe was married to Ralph, she raised five children, loved 18 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren and was the "neighborhood mom" to countless friends. JoAnn fully embraced life and shared her kind spirit with everyone. As a native of McKees Rocks, she will be remembered for her lifelong contribution to the Pittsburgh Cookie Table tradition, homemade lasagna, and the best soup in town. There was never a time when she didn't have a pot of coffee going. Josephine, a deeply spiritual woman, is survived by her husband, Ralph Roe Sr., of Crafton; and their five children, Lea Long, May Roe, Lt. Commander Ralph E. Roe, Jr. USN Ret. (Imelda), Connie Feda (Ken) and Ramona Funovits. She is also survived by 18 grandchildren; and soon to be 11 great-grandchildren; as well as her four brothers, Jet, Donald, Robert and Jay Naples. Per JoAnn's wishes, there will be no viewing. Family and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Philip Roman Catholic Church, 50 W.
