KOVALCHICK HELEN (KOBAN) Age 91, formerly of Renton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 27, 2014, at the Clarebridge Community in Export where she was currently a resident. She was born January 12, 1923, in Bitumen, daughter of the late Vasil and Anna Pechina Koban. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Michael L. (Mike) Kovalchick; five sisters, Eleanor DeMichiei, Margie (Paul) Shish, Anna (Babe) Opina, Sue (Nick) Novelsowski and Mary (Fred) Falsetti; and two brothers, John Koban and Mike (Alice) Koban. Helen and Mike began their life together in Sagamore before relocating to Renton where they raised two sons and a daughter, Michael (Sherry) Kovalchick of North Carolina, Denny (Kathy) Kovalchick of Apollo and Michele (Jim) Kelly of Murrysville; she was NANA to six grandchildren, Michael (Chelsey), Natalie, Chris and Kevin Kovalchick and Jimmy (Kimberly) and Patrick (Nicole) Kelly; six beautiful great- grandchildren, Lassen, Scarlet, Logan, Abby, Mia and McKenna; two sisters, Carolyn (James) Nesbit and Betty (the late John) Bodnar; brother-in-law, Tootie DeMichiei; sister-in-law, Kathryn Koban; and many nieces and nephews. Besides being a loving sister, devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Helen was a wonderful homemaker. She took her job seriously and truly excelled. She was always cooking up something special or baking something incredible. Her house on Maple Street was her castle and she was very proud of the home she made there. Also, she loved her music; American Bandstand during the week, oldies on Saturday mornings and always Polkas on Sundays. Her home was said by many to be happy and very cozy. Her faith was very important to her everyday life. She was a member at Holy Trinity, Wall, PA and then later the Church of the Resurrection in Monroeville. She worked very hard at all the bazaars and the lawn fairs, making pirohis, holupki, nut rolls and cookies. She loved singing in Slovak during mass and still could speak fluently just weeks before her passing. Family and friends will be received Friday, August 1, 2014, from 2 to 7 p.m. with Parastas at 2 p.m. at the HART FUNERAL HOME, INC., Murrysville with a Divine Liturgy at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Church of the Resurrection, 455 Center Road, Monroeville, PA with Father Joseph Raptosh as Celebrant. ANDROSS DONNA M. Age 82, of Upper St. Clair, formerly of Orange, California, passed away on Thursday, July 24, 2014. Born September 26, 1931, in Plaza, North Dakota, she is the daughter of the late Alf and Stella (Stortroen) Evenson; beloved mother of Cheryl (Mark) Welch of Upper St. Clair; cherished grandmother of Meaghan, Connor, Madeline, and Christopher; sister of Vern (Helen) Evenson and Joan Blair; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her dear husband, Claude Andross; siblings, Joel Evenson, Earl Evenson, Betty Foss, LaVaun Sjol, Lowell Evenson, and Wayne Evenson. Donna grew up in Van Hook, North Dakota and graduated from Minot High School in 1949, following which she moved to Southern California with her sister, Betty, where she met and married her husband, Claude. They lived and raised their daughter, Cheryl, in Orange County until Claude passed away. Donna moved to Upper St. Clair in 2002 to live with her daughter, Cheryl, and her family. Jim was a proud WWII Navy Seabee, and was a retired auditor after 31 years with the Pittsburgh Press. Jim volunteered with Habit for Humanity, was an avid golfer, gardener and a member of the Western Pennsylvania Woodworkers. He was a lifelong member of the NRA, a Hunter Safety Instructor with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and a member of the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen's Club. REIS HARRY W. Age 87, of Charleroi, on July 30, 2014. Born September 9, 1926, he was the son of the late John C. and Amelia (Campagnolli) Reis. Harry was a member of Mary Mother of the Church, Charleroi, where he served in many capacities. He served for many years in the political arena of Charleroi and Washington County as a councilman and as a representative on the Washington County Democratic Committee. He retired from council in 2013. He retired from Wheeling-Pitt Steel. He served Local Union 1187 USWA in various capacities from grievance man to president. In 2005, he was elected to the Washington Greene Central Labor Council's Hall of Fame. Harry served in the U.S. Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. He was known as a loving father, and a great friend to anyone in need. He is survived by sons, William "Bill" (Barbara) Reis, of N. Charleroi, and John "Jack" (Kathy) Reis, of Belpre, OH; grandchildren, Jacqueline (Derek) Zona, Matthew (Jennifer) Reis, Kristen (Scott) McElwayne, and Karie (Jay) Smith; great- grandchildren, Nolan, Elisabetta, Evan, Claire, McKenzy, and Cecelia.
