Son of the late Helen and George; former husband of the late Nancy (Kennedy); brother of the late Joseph Kinzel; beloved father of Jamie Kinzel-Nath (James) and Kelly Kinzel; loving grandfather of Isabella, Annalise and Benjamin Nath; brother of Sandra Gumina (Mike), Kenneth Kinzel (Michele), Thomas Kinzel (Michelle), and Ronald Kinzel (Karrie). Edward was a cherished Uncle, Godfather and dear friend to many. He loved coaching little league girls softball for Brookline when his daughters were little. She was born January 31, 1921, in Natrona Heights, the daughter of the late Elmer and Goldie Cummings, of Freeport. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Oberleitner, of Herminie, in 2005. She is survived by her son, Fred Schrag and his wife, Connie, of Export; two grandchildren, Lori Kerr, of Delmont, and Michael F. Schrag, of Champion. DAVID K. COLLINS David Keith Collins, 67, passed away on Aug. 13, 2019 at MD Anderson Hospital in Houston, after a short illness. David was the beloved husband of Dr. Diane M. Collins of League City, TX, and filled his 67 years with adventure, service to others, and compassion to all. David served on the Detroit Police Department, where he worked as a beat cop, and on the Tactical Services team. Later, David graduated from Pittsburgh Technical Institute. He worked as a Microsoft systems engineer and consultant, and pursued his passion for marine biology, boating and fishing. David loved dogs and the stars and stripes, and wore red, white and blue daily. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings, and survived by Dr. Collins and her family, and Kevin Collins, his nephew. CHARLES E. "CHUCK" COLLINS III Chuck followed God's plan and was called Home to be with Him on Thursday, August 22, 2019, after a short illness. His loving family and a dear friend were at his side - he was never alone. Chuck was born in Pittsburgh on November 22, 1964 to Charles and Constance (McCarthy) Collins. He was the beloved older brother to Michael (Jill) Collins and Constance (William) Gaus. Chuck was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, boating, and fishing near the family camp in Tionesta, PA, where he was also a master builder of campfires. He also loved the beach and saltwater fishing at his lifelong most favorite destination, the Outer Banks of North Carolina. As many have said: “he had an infectious smile and was put on this earth to make people laugh!” Chuck was a hero to his younger cousins and the adored and fun-loving uncle to his nieces and nephews: Anne, Shane, Sarah and Ryan. Chuck was a 1987 graduate of Westminster College where he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Management and was a proud brother in the Sigma Nu Fraternity. He was a Senior Manager at BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Pittsburgh. In addition to his brother and sister, he is survived by his Father, Charles, Jr. and his children, Zachary, Brianna, and Ian, whom he cherished. He is also by survived by his loving aunt Mary (David) Jack, uncle Ron Romeo, aunt Judy and many cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom love him dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved Mom, his uncle Paul and aunt Thecla. JOHN L. LOVASZ On August 23, 2019, the soul and spirit of our dear father, John L. Lovasz, ascended to the Father who gave it. John was of Verona, formerly Baldwin. He was born in Bridgeport, CT, the youngest of three children of John and Anna (Holobradi) Lovasz. Preceded in death by his father, mother, step-mother, his second wife, Elizabeth H. Iams; his first wife, Florence A. Zero; his son, Kenneth M. Lovasz; his brother, Elmer M. Lovasz; and his sister, Vera Lovasz. He leaves to cherish his memory his son, John E. (Mary Ann); and daughter, Catherine T. (Lee) Fedner; step-children, Janet (Thomas) Wertz and Richard (Gail) Iams; grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After service in the Army during the Korean Conflict, he graduated Duquesne University and became Treasurer of the William Penn Association, retiring in 1985 and later called back to service as a Consultant. In 2007, he retired to St. Barnabas Village in Gibsonia and later to Seneca Hills Village in Penn Hills, where he enjoyed being with a host of friends. Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Susanna Church, 200 Stotler Road, Penn Hills, on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Fr. Al Zapf, celebrant. PHYLLIS S. VARGA Age 90, of Brighton Heights, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019, in Caring Heights Community Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born March 12, 1929, in Lycippus, PA, daughter of the late Charles A. Struble and Madeline Welty Struble. Mrs. Varga was a 1948 graduate of Bellevue High School. Prior to retirement she worked in housekeeping at the Masonic Eastern Star Home in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, North Hills Chapter 526 and remained an active member for over 65 years. Phyllis was a member of Emanuel's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bellevue and volunteered her time at Meals-on-Wheels Brighton Heights location. On September 4, 1959, she married her beloved Dean Varga, who passed away July 17, 2001. Phyllis adored her family and friends, loved watching the Pittsburgh Steelers, enjoyed reading, volunteering, and supporting various animal charities. She loved doggies. ROBERT STEPHEN JOHN SIMCIC Of Munhall, died August 22, 2019, of natural causes, age 67. A two-time cancer survivor, Robert will be remembered for his charisma, fighting spirit and willingness to help others suffering the same fate. A former painter and carpenter whose work graces our local area, he loved animals - especially dogs and cats - music, classic cars and was an avid baseball and football fan. He played in local softball leagues until his mid 40's. He was also known for his impeccable sense of style, and enjoyed “dressing to the nines,” especially in his youth. He was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, where he sponsored others who were struggling with addictions. His AA and NA family were very important to him and his many friends were an instrumental part of his life. He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Ann Cornelius Simcic; sisters, Victoria Madero Arnold and Marleen Simcic; niece, Angela (Christopher) Petro; nephew, John (Isabelle) Malta; great-nephew, Edison Malta; step-father, Edward Madero; mother-in-law, Natalie Cornelius; and brothers-in-law, Bob Arnold, Victor Cornelius and Edgar Cornelius, Jr.; also survived by his four beloved cats, Pouncey, Woodley, Ziggy and Sidney “Itski.” Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Lois Madero and Robert Simcic; grandparents, Agnes and John Galisin; and his father-in-law, Edgar Cornelius. RICHARD D. "DICK" PUGH Age 84, of Greenfield. Passed peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, August 24, 2019. Preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Lee (Tozzi); and brother, Bobby Pugh. Adored and loving husband of 63 years to Eleanor (Yalch), whom he cherished; loving sons, Richard (Cyndi), Dale, Anthony, and Robert (Tammy) Pugh; special Pap-Pap of Brittany, Briana, Emma, and his special buddy RJ. They were all diamonds in his heart; loving nieces, Dana and Jodi. He is also survived by numerous family and friends. Dick was the elected Democrat Committeeman and Vice Chairman in the 15th ward. Serving 56 years making him one of the longest serving members. He was also the chief inspector of the City of Pittsburgh until he left to become Controller Engineer for Tom Flaherty. Dick also served as a very active member of the Knights of Columbus council #3530. Where he was 4th degree and past Grand Knight. He served as an usher at St. Rosalia Church and a Eucharistic Minister at the Heritage. Rounding out all the places he volunteered his time, Dick served on the Board of Directors of Crowfoot Rod and Gun Club where he was the President of the Lake. Dick really enjoyed his family vacations in Stone Harbor, their 4th of July picnics, going to Pitt Football games, watching football on T.V., smoking a good cigar on his front porch and loved attending and supporting everything his grandkids did. Dick liked to talk about their trip to Rome and how proud he was of his Italian heritage, often serenading Eleanor with Frank Sinatra songs at home. He was well known for always helping and doing favors for anyone he could. Friends will be received on Wednesday and Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the EDWARD P. BRIAN DONALDSON Age 49, passed away peacefully in St. Louis, MO on August 5, 2019 after a courageous battle against esophageal cancer. He was a graduate of Franklin Regional High School, earned a Bachelor Degree in Finance from Pennsylvania State University and later a Master's degree from The Smeal College Of Business from Penn State. He started his career with Edward Jones in Franklin, PA in 1992. In 2006, he moved to London, England to help establish an Edward Jones presence in The UK before moving to their company headquarters in St. Louis as a General Partner. He is survived by his wife, Anya; his stepson, Max of St. Louis, MO; his parents, Dave and Carol Donaldson of Murrysville; his favorite sister, Lisa of Pittsburgh and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. He loved his family and friends...and people, in general. He always had a smile, a kind word and a willingness to nurture everyone that he met.
