LHOTA CHARLES GEORGE Age 89, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Ross Township, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, while under the care of the Good Samaritan Hospice in Wexford. Born February 23, 1925, in Pittsburgh, his parents, John A. Lhota, Jr. and Mary K. (Oakley) Lhota, instilled in him the strong work ethic and faith in God that carried him throughout his life. Charles was a veteran of World War II, a 35 year employee of Mellon Bank, a member of the St. Ferdinand Catholic Church in Cranberry Township and a lifelong member of the VFW in Bellevue. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elsie C. (Rausch) Lhota, whom he married on October 16, 1948; and his two children, Patricia A. Otto and Charles A. Lhota. His wife was the anchor of his life and the caregiver whose strength never failed him. His children were the highlight of his accomplished life. They are the symbol of his strength, and while they will grieve his passing, they know he truly loved them both. He was the beloved grandfather of Benjamin C. Otto and Charles T. Lhota; and father-in-law to Gary R. Otto and Karen A. Lhota. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Margaret Ann Lhota; and his brother, Jack Lhota. A Mass of Christian Burial followed by Military Honors will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township, with Father John Gallagher, celebrant. He will be laid to rest in St. Mary's Cemetery in Ross Township. LASKOVICH PAUL CHARLES BUTCH Age 71, of Franklin, PA, formerly of Hampton Township, passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014. He was the son of the late Paul and Beatrice (Helton) Laskovich. Butch was a former resident of Hampton Twp. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. Intrepid during the Cuban Missile Crisis and recovering U.S. astronaut Scott Carpenter at sea. Butch founded ABC glass and later Franklin Glass and he also owned the Grant Street Bar & Grill in Franklin. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 83, American Legion Post 0945, and the F&AM. Butch loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trap shooting, and golf. He is survived by his sons, Keith (Maureen) Laskovich, Kevin C. Laskovich, and their mother, Marguerite A. (Seibert) Laskovich, all of Hampton Twp.; brother, David A. Laskovich of Pensacola, FL; and his loving dog, Vicky. He was predeceased by his parents. The family would like to thank all the personnel at UPMC-Northwest for their excellent care.
