GLICK ROBERT PAUL "BOB" On December 27, 2018, Robert Paul Glick of Fairfax, VA passed away at 73. Bob was born in Pittsburgh, PA on April 24, 1945. He graduated from Dormont High School in 1968, attended the University of Pittsburgh and Youngstown State University and graduated in 1968. Bob worked for the U.S. General Accounting Of?ce (GAO) and retired in 2002. During his career, Bob worked on and/or led many signi?cant reviews including those dealing with U.S. efforts to ?ght organized crime; agencies' coordination efforts to ?ght terrorism; law enforcement's policies and training on the use of deadly force; U.S. intelligence agencies' alleged use of Nazi war criminals; and coordination difficulties between law enforcement and intelligence investigations. In 1970 and 1971, Bob served in GAO's Saigon Of?ce. For many years, Bob was GAO's liaison to the FBI. In retirement, Bob was the president of the Board of the Stonehurst Homeowners Association for several years. In 2014, Bob was predeceased by his loving wife Jennifer. They married in 2004 after reconnecting at a high school reunion. Bob was also predeceased by his parents Harold and Beatrice Glick. Bob is survived by his brothers, Morton and Edward; their wives Tonnie and Marlene, respectively; and his sister, Gloria Glick. He is also survived by his step-daughter, Wendy Hutchison, her husband, Ryan, and his grandchildren, Abigail and Cole; his nephews, David Glick and Daniel Glick; and his longtime friend, Robert Dutt. Bob traveled the world both for work and vacation. Trips to Russia, Australia, Hong Kong, Italy, Hawaii, Alaska, Switzerland, and France were his favorites. He and his wife Jennifer enjoyed cruises along many European rivers. He was passionate about his favorite sports teams, especially those from Pittsburgh and was a season ticket holder for Pitt Panthers football for over 40 years. He enjoyed attending programs at the Kennedy Center, the National Gallery of Art, the National Zoo, and the Smithsonian Institution. He loved spending time with his family; going to movies with his grandchildren and attending their events; and having get-togethers with his Saigon-of?ce friends and GAO friends. Family will receive friends at 10 a.m. followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 10565 Main St., Fairfax, VA. MILLER RICHARD C., Ph.D. "DICK" Richard Miller, of Evans City, age 88, died peacefully at home in hospice care on December 31, 2018. Dick had a long and distinguished career as a psychologist and only recently retired in late 2016. Along with longtime psychology practice partner Bob Romano, he was a recipient of the Greater Pittsburgh Psychological Association's Legacy Award for Carrying the Torch for Psychology in the Pittsburgh Community (2000). He was also President of the Clinical Division for the Pennsylvania Psychological Association (1983-84), and an adjunct professor of psychology at the University of Pittsburgh. Outside the ?eld of psychology, Dick was passionate about horses. He was active in Region 15 of the International Arabian Horse Association and received their Ambassador of the Year Award (1989). Dick and his wife Lois were volunteers and board members of Riding for the Handicapped of Western Pennsylvania, a nonpro?t equine assisted therapy program. Born on May 18, 1930 and a 1948 graduate of Moon High School, Dick graduated from Bucknell University and earned his M.A. and Ph.D. from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. He married his high school sweetheart, Lois (Weaver) on August 5, 1950. She survives him, in addition to his brother, John (Jack) Miller, of Moon; and son, Richard and his wife, Jane, of Avalon, and son, Jeff and partner, Heidi Murrin, of Baden. He is also survived by ?ve grandchildren, Megan (Miller) and Paul Wegley, of Coraopolis, Aaron and Alicia (Hayes) Miller, of Moon; Caitlin Miller and Tabitha Natale of Forest Hills; Jennifer (Miller) and Brady Crytzer of Imperial and Elizabeth Miller of Avalon; ten great-grandchildren; along with nieces and nephews, are also survivors. BELL DAVID E . On Sunday, December 30, 2018, age 75, of Cranberry Twp., David was born and lived his entire childhood in Mans?eld, Ohio. After graduating high school, Dave completed his college studies at Bowling Green University where he majored in Public Relations and Business Management. To enhance his interest in music composition and performance, he minored in Piano Performance. His modesty got the best of him, and he discovered he could not perform without fainting! He worked 15 years (?rst in Mans?eld, then at the Edison, New Jersey Westinghouse plant where he met his wife, Augustine). Although he worked in public relations, his real love was woodworking and appreciation of all genres of music. This hobby lead him to build and repair several instruments while spending two years as a proprietor of The Music Ensemble in Wexford, PA. During his mid-life he went back to school and studied computer science. He went to work for Mellon Bank for ten more years. In retirement he enjoyed gardening, landscaping, some more woodworking until illness prohibited his hands from working properly. But it was David's sweet and generous nature to all persons that is his lasting legacy. His smile, sincere cordiality, love for people, and his patience are qualities that were precious and displayed at every juncture of his life. His family will miss him dearly. He was the proudest WWII veteran to wear a uniform. After retirement, he dedicated his life to volunteering, ?rst by visiting heart patients at Mercy Hospital and most recently by sharing his stories with over 1000 veterans in nursing homes. Richard was also a dedicated and faithful member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church since 1971. He was the kindest, most compassionate, and loving man we have ever known, and we will carry the stories, the laughter, and his love with us forever. SOROKA WALTER February 9, 1921 - January 1, 2019. Walter Soroka passed away peacefully on January 1st, at the age of 97 at The Pines of Mt. Lebanon. Walter was born one of ?ve brothers, sons of Ukranian immigrants, on the Southside. He spent his early years in Mt. Oliver and was a 1938 graduate of Brentwood High School. He raised his family in Baldwin and spent his retirement years on Siesta Key Beach in Sarasota, Florida. As a member of the Greatest Generation, he served in World War II as a proud member of the 267th Coast Artillery Battalion, primarily stationed in Alaska. He was one of the last surviving veterans of that courageous unit. After the War, he founded Soroka Sales, Inc., on the Southside, where he was able to employ many loyal and dedicated employees who knew and respected him. Walter was preceded in death in 1993 by his loving wife of 52 years, Elmira Dorothy Soroka. Wanting to express and share his love for her, he commissioned and dedicated the stained glass window in the chapel of Jefferson Memorial Mausoleum, depicting the signing of the United States Constitution. He is survived by his sons, Richard D. and Walter C. Soroka (Catherine); and the true love of his life, his grandson, Bradley T. Soroka (Meagan); and for the past year has been blessed as the great-grandfather of Tyler D. Soroka.
