Most beloved mother of Cheryl (John) Hopper, Dennis (Janice) Martin, Daniel (Linda) Martin, David Martin, Susan (Joseph) Mahoney; cherished grandmother of Ryan (Davina) Hopper, Kelly (Jason) Briggs, Vincent (Vicky) Ansetti, Katie and Michael Hopper, Matthew Martin, Michael Martin, Eric (Michelle) Martin, Jonathan (Meghan) Martin, Rachel (Daniel) Skilone, Carrie Ann Martin (deceased) and Michael (Lindsay) Snatchko; also survived by 15 great-grandchildren. Grace worked at the libraries of St. Pius X School and Jay Neff Middle School. Grace was a Eucharistic minister and member of the altar society at St. Thomas More Church. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was also a member of the Gold Card Club, serving as secretary for many years. DOWD JAMES M. Age 62, of Baldwin, formerly of Mt. Washington, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Husband of 40 years to JoAnn (Burke) Dowd; father of James Joseph "JJ" and Michael Dowd; grandfather of Jasper, Lily, Dreama, Gavin, Heaven, Anna, and Hazel; brother of Ellen (Paul), Joseph, Margaret, Mary (Bill), Ann, Theresa, Charlote, Karen (Jim), and the late Andrew (Donna) and John (Bobbi); son of the late Andrew Joseph and Ellen Mae (Caveney) Dowd. Jim worked for 25 years in maintenance for Baker/Young Corp. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, but particularly enjoyed spending time at his camp. Jim worked hard and always gave of himself. He was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Jim's final gift was a gift of life through the Center for Organ Recovery and Education. Preceded in death by his father, William Braunlich. James spent the weekend before his death with his family and friends. His favorite past times include autocross, fishing, karaoke and cooking. James was in high spirits and surrounded by loved ones during his final days. (Kinney) O'Connell; devoted father of Maureen (Thomas) McAniff, Margaret (Mark) Thomas, Michael O'Connell, Mary Pat deMey, Mara (Brian) Winkowski and Martin (Tracy) O'Connell; loving grandpa of Heather Barker, Brent O'Connell (fiancé Brandy Balash), Amber Hughes, Ryan Thomas (fiancé Emma Crichfield ~ grandpa said so), Alyssa Thomas, Ashley deMey, Tyler deMey, Zachary Winkowski, Erin Winkowski, Amanda and Luke O'Connell; great-grandpa of Austin Barker; brother of the late Patricia A. SANDHU BHUPINDER SINGH Age 84, of San Marcos, California and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania passed away on September 28, 2018. Bhupinder was born in Gujranwala, India on March 2, 1934. He graduated from Dyal Singh College, Karnal, India with an education degree. He went on to teach as a headmaster in Jalmana, India. He immigrated to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1968, where he earned his Master's Degree in special education from the University of Pittsburgh. He was a dedicated educator and taught special education for 32 years in the Pittsburgh Public Schools. Bhupinder was a giving soul that helped many families pursue the "American Dream." He had a jovial personality despite his many health conditions. He was fond of listening to music, playing chess, and watching the Steelers! He was persistent and unyielding in his effort to win the lottery jackpot, the trifecta at the horse track and the slots at the casino. People were naturally drawn to his warm and welcoming nature. He retired in 2000 and spent his later years in San Marcos, California. Bhupinder was married to Narinder Kaur Sandhu on June 30, 1964, and they were married for 54 years. Bhupinder is survived by his loving wife; and three children, Mahesh, Pinky and Dolly; ke was further blessed with five grandchildren, Hannah, Brendan, Kaden, Charlie and Addison. Because Bhupinder committed his life to teaching, he understood the power of education. His wish is to educate a gifted student, who cannot afford an education, from his village of Peont, India. Thus the family is requesting, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be sent to The Bhupinder Sandhu Scholarship Fund, c/o Narinder Sandhu, 613 Superior Street, Carnegie, PA 15106. Funeral and cremation will be held in California on Sunday, October 7 at Cypress Mortuary, 3953 Imperial Avenue, San Diego from 9-11 a.m., with a prayer service (Kirtan/Langar) from 1-3 p.m. at Del Dios Middle School, 1400 West 9th Avenue, Escondido, CA on the same day. She graduated Peabody High School in 1973 then proceeded to the U.S. Army in 1974. She was honorably discharged in 1976. She then worked at the VA Hospital as well as Allegheny Valley Hospital. Father of Harmony and Melody Charlton; son of Lea Marie (Charlton) Hunt (husband, Coby) and Andre Nathanial Robinson; grandson of Diana Ruslander (late husband, John H. Ruslander) and Ronald (wife, Gloria) Charlton; brother of Jonathan Charlton and Maxwell Hunt. Nathanial was kind, loving, caring, giving, witty and intelligent. He was a graduate and star football player at Sheffield High School in Warren County and also studied and graduated from the culinary arts program at Arlene Lissner in Marienville. As a youngster, Nathanial was the "Rotary mascot" for the Penn Hills Rotary Club. He developed into an excellent athlete as he was blessed with natural athletic skills. Nathanial played baseball, basketball, football and golf and also was adept at skiing and snowboarding. Friends are welcome on Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at PATRICK T. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, cooking, watching sports, and spending time with his cherished family and dear friends.
