Jerry will be remembered for his sense of humor and the love he had for his family. He was a lover of the written word, and an avid writer. He had two short stories published, and was hard at work on the Great American Novel. He will be truly missed by his friends and family. Elizabeth just celebrated her 100th birthday last month. Elizabeth was a very busy and active woman all her life. She was a licensed cosmetologist and loved traveling, baking, painting, writing, and learning. She was an avid gardener and served as the president of the Treehaven Garden Club in Bethel Park. Her faith was very important to her and she was a member of St. Valentines Church. Elizabeth was a 51-year cancer survivor. She was married to the late David W. Pirrung, a World War II veteran, and is survived by her five children: David Pirrung (the late MaryAnn) of Lakewood, Colorado, Patricia Kral (Charles) of Bethel Park, Dennis Pirrung (Ruth) of Coraopolis, Robert Pirrung (Tamara) of Sutton, West Virginia, and Daniel Pirrung (Stella) of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Nothing compares to opening a package of Nana's Christmas cookies which you knew were made with love and carried the blessing of countless rosaries she said until that person returned home safely. ENERSON DANIEL M. Age 95, of Smicksburg, passed away on February 5, 2018, peacefully at home. Daniel was born on 12 April 1922, in Chicago, Illinois and raised in Glen Ellyn, IL, where he graduated from high school. He studied medicine at the University of Chicago, graduating in 1946 as part of a US Army initiative where he achieved the rank of captain. Daniel served as the surgeon for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Springfield, MO, serving 12 years of active military duty. After completing both his internship and residency at the University of Chicago, Daniel began a long career in the development field of cardiovascular surgery, both as a medical researcher in Syracuse, NY and Pittsburgh, PA (contributing to the early research in cellular swelling and aortic valve replacement) and as a thoracic surgeon at West Penn and Allegheny Valley Hospitals. Daniel directed research at the Veterans Administration before eventually opening his private practice in thoracic surgery in Pittsburgh. Daniel always loved trying new things. So in the 1970s he and his first wife, Lillian (who died in 1997), began planting grapes on a plot of land in Smicksburg, PA. That plot ultimately became Windgate Vineyards and Winery, a local destination that has won over a hundred awards in regional and international wine competitions. Daniel is survived by his second wife, Catherine (Cay) Enerson, whom he married in 1998; his four children: Diane, Russell, Meryl, and Linda; and four grandchildren: Kimberly, Isabel, Henry, and Duncan. No immediate services are planned. But a tribute to his memory is being planned for early spring. LEGO ANN Died peacefully, surrounded by family in Naples, Florida on February 4, 2018, at the age of 86, nearly a year after she suffered a major stroke. Ann was born on April 11, 1931, in Conemaugh Township, PA, the daughter of John and Mary (Pavlischak) Sepety. As humble as she was intelligent, Ann graduated as the Valedictorian of the Conemaugh Township High School, Class of 1950. She continued her education to receive a business degree from Cambria Rowe Business College and then worked in the accounts payable department of Penn Traffic Company. She later continued her education at Elmira College in Elmira, NY. Ann met the love of her life, Paul Edward Lego, at a square dance, and brought him home to her family where he successfully passed the scrutiny of her mother and many brothers. Paul and Ann were married on July 7, 1956, and celebrated 61 years of marriage last summer. Ann was first and foremost passionate about her family. She spent all of her life dedicated to her husband, her four children and her many grandchildren. She was the consummate corporate wife and a kind and loving mother. Ann also enjoyed golf and served as chairperson of the Valley Brook CC women's program. In addition to her parents, Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Nick, John, George, Michael, Andrew and Peter; and her sisters, Margaret and Mary. She is survived, in addition to her husband, by her younger brother, Stephen; her sons, Paul Gregory (Kimberly), Douglas Edward (Rhonda) and Michael John (Wendy); and her daughter, Debra Ann; as well as by her grandchildren, Paul Henry, Tori, Dylan, Cassidy, Caroline and Bryan. His distinguished military service was acknowledged by the many commendations he received including the following: American Campaign Medal-WWII, American Defense Medal with Bronze Star-WWII, Army Good Conduct Medal with Bronze Two Knot Device, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with Bronze Star, WWII Victory Medal, and the Army Presidential Unit Citation. It was during his four-year tour of duty in Europe that he met and married the love of his life, Valerie (Ludgate) Semchak. Alex was well known due to his membership in numerous social clubs including the following: White Oak American Legion Post 701, Elizabeth Township Ex-Serviceman's Association in Boston, Sutersville Moose Lodge 1358, Order of the Owls Nest 1649, Buena Vista Volunteer Fire Co., Croation Club and Croation Men's Club Lodge 146 in Versailles, 11th Ward Welfare Association in McKeesport and the WMBU in Blythedale. Alex was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Valerie Semchak. He is survived by his son, Brian Semchak; his daughter, Janet Semchak; and his granddaughter, Christa Semchak. In addition, he is survived by his sister, Katherine (Kash) Mills of Battleground, WA; nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife and parents, Alex was preceded in death by his brother, George Semchak; sisters, Anne Chernega, Helen Samios, and Dorothy Cramer.
