TINSTMAN DOLORES JEAN Age 82, of West Mifflin, formerly from Pleasant Hills, passed away on May 19, 2017. Preceded in death by her former, deceased, caring husband, Millard “Bud” Tinstman and beloved sons, Gary and Randy Tinstman. She is survived by her beloved sister, Mary Ann Thorne. BuBu Jean will miss Claudine Walasik's children, Brandy, Faith, and Timmy, who were like a family to her. They helped Jean after she lost her son, Gary. She will also miss her loved ones, family, and dear friend, Adrian. Jean will be laid to rest beside her sons, Randy and Gary, in Jefferson Memorial Park. FUNK JOHN JOSEPH Died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters, on the afternoon of May 17, 2017, from cancer. He was 64. John is survived by his wife and best friend of 44 years, Linda Funk (Crawshaw); four daughters, Jennifer Lach of Pittsburgh, Melissa Williamson of Charleston, S.C., Lynne Funk Posner and Emily Funk, both of Brooklyn, N.Y. John also has three “little darlings,” his granddaughters, Isabella Lach, Sophia Lach, and Nora Williamson. He is also survived by sons-in-law, Sean Lach, Matthew Posner, Stewart Williamson; and soon-to-be son-in-law, Jake Reinus. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Crawshaw, of Pittsburgh. Born in the North Side of Pittsburgh, John was one of 14 children. His parents, Anthony and Dorothy Funk, had ten girls and four boys, and John was number ten. A tireless worker for his entire life, he began as a young man, working at his father's store, John J. Funk & Sons, on East Ohio Street. John became a Union Carpenter and built many structures around Pittsburgh – homes, the Pittsburgh Convention Center, the LeMont Restaurant, among others. Woodworking was his unique talent. His home, and many others, is filled with his personal, beautiful touches. What he built the best was his family and a group of countless friends who witnessed what a generous, loving and big-hearted person he was. John loved hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors. WILSON CAROL Passed with peace and grace on May 21, 2017, with her son by her side. Carol a lifelong resident of Pittsburgh, was a graduate of Schenley High School. Possessed with an intense curiosity and interest in learning, Carol attended many computer classes at Community College of Allegheny County. She spent the majority of her professional life working in the Dietetics department at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Oakland. As a child Carol developed a love of the arts, especially dance and singing. Her hobbies included knitting, playing cards, listening to music and cooking. Bernie was a larger than life character that had the best stories of his day to day encounters that always made you laugh. He had an amazing work ethic which always made work days enjoyable for all. He was extremely passionate about nature and all the beauty it provided. He assisted with the University of Pittsburgh Astronomy Research Program, a member of Safari Club International, and was also an Eagle Scout. CUNNINGHAM DENNIS D. Age 70, of Mt. Washington, peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, May 18, 2017. Dennis proudly served his country in the US Air Force as a sergeant and later in life as the “official” Sheriff of Shiloh Street. He was the son of the late Martin and Catherine (Miller) Cunningham; proud and loving father of Ryan Cunningham and Kaylie (Chaz) Waugaman; cherished brother of the late Martin (Mary Ann), Michael, Barbara, and Thomas (Sharon); also survived by many nieces and nephews and their children. Beloved by all who knew him, he will truly be missed here but welcomed into Heaven. As per Dennis' wishes, there will be no visitation. Beloved stepmother of Mary Jo (Larry) Blake of Export, Kathy (the late Fred) McAllen of Turtle Creek, Jack (Amy) Calligaro of Monroeville and Betsy (Lou) Gerthoffer of Monroeville; dear grandmother of Kelley (Tom) Maringo, Katie (Chad) Toulouse, Jamie (Carly) Calligaro, Domenick Calligaro and Allison (Pete) Eiseman; great-grandmother of Jake, Lauren, Tommy, PJ, Walt, Josie and Alex; and great- great-grandmother of Carter. Val enjoyed golfing and crossword puzzles, was an avid reader, and most of all, loved spending time with her family and friends. Special thanks to Karen, Carrie, Barb, John, Connie and Suzanne.
