
BANSAVAGE JOSEPH W. Age 93, of Penn Hills, passed away Thursday, March 12, 2015. He was born on December 1, 1921, in Amsterdam, NY, the son of Joseph and Anna (Plankis) Bansavage. He was proud to serve as a sergeant in the Army Air Corps on Saipan during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Rochester in 1949 and earned a master's degree from the University of Toledo 1951. He was a career psychologist and practiced in the Shadyside area of Pittsburgh. His special interest was in post- concussion syndrome. He was an avid watercolorist and loved sharing his art with people. He served on the Penn Hills Arts Council for several years. He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Judith C. Bansavage; he is survived by his brother, Lee Bansavage of Scotia, NY; daughter, Rev. Lisa Bansavage and her husband, L.E. McCullough, of Woodbridge, NJ; son, David Bansavage and his wife, Lorraine, of Eighty Four, PA; grandchildren, Tess, and Kyle Bansavage of Eighty Four; nephews, Gregg and Mark Bansavage; and niece, Tara Blackstock, of Atlanta, GA, and niece, Elyshia Bansavage, of Scotia, NY. He will be especially missed by his best friend from high school, Tony Novak, of Amsterdam, NY who nicknamed him Clark Gable, and has called him nothing else for over 75 years.
