HEISER LORAINE M. LORI Passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014, in Atlanta, GA, at age 86. She is survived by her beloved husband, Richard; and son, James Heiser of Seal Beach, CA; and daughter, Claire Heiser of Lilburn, GA. She was preceded in death by her father, Michael Rams; and her mother, Helen Rams of Chicago, IL. Loraine was a renaissance woman who, when the woman movement began, believed that women could make a contribution and achieve recognition by volunteering in community affairs as well as working in industry. She was co-founder of North Hills AAUW and the Zoar Home, Shelter for Abused Women. She was founder of the Committee for Elderly Concerns, on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scouts of Southwestern PA and Regency Hall Nursing Home. In 1980, she was elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Later, she served on the Pennsylvania Securities & Exchange Commission for seven years. In 1987, she received the Government Public Service award for leadership from the YMCA of Greater Pittsburgh. And the list goes on. Needless to say, her family is proud of her many contributions to her community and state. Loraine was a loving wife and mother who liked to make pastries, sew, garden, ski, play tennis, and travel.
