MATTERN EDWARD J., JR. Age 92, of Crafton, passed peacefully on Sunday, September 2, 2018. Husband of 65 years to the late Clare M. (Rosenberger) Mattern; beloved father of Janet (Greg) Spaulding, Patty (Dennis) Kessler, Mary Clare (Tom) Gerlowski, Edward J. (Carol) Mattern III, Margie Mattern, Alane (Harold) Haney, and Jim (Paula) Mattern; 13 grandchildren; and 12 plus two on the way greatgrandchildren; brother of Maryann Burford, Paul (Carol) Mattern; also survived by nieces. Ed was a WWII Navy Veteran. After the war he graduated from Duquesne University and received a masters degree in business administration. He was formerly employed by the state as an occupational analyst for over 25 years. Ed was a devoted father and grandfather, he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Visitation THURSDAY ONLY 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. At the SCHEPNER McDERMOTT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 165 Noble Ave., Crafton. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Friday, in St. Philip Catholic Church, where Ed was a longtime member. Burial will be with full military honors.
