SOLTYSIAK DONALD JOSEPH Age 80, of Murrysville, died peacefully in his sleep on Thursday, July 5, 2018, in Oak Island, NC. Beloved husband of Genevieve Socha, for 59 years; loving father and grandfather of five children, 13 grandchildren and 2 great- grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters, brother and sisters-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Don was born on January 31, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan to Joseph and Josephine Soltysiak. After graduating from Michigan State University in 1961, Don went on to be an accomplished civil engineer. His career began in California working for McDonald Douglas and after ten years, he took a position with Westinghouse. Don worked for Westinghouse and on elite projects for the company for over thirty years before retiring in 2004. Outside of his astounding career, Don loved life's simplest pleasures. He loved to fish, play cards and to dance a good polka with his wife. He will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor, his love for country music, and finding him in front of a TV every Sunday cheering on his Steelers. Most of all, Don's love exploded for his family and yearly family vacations. Don loved a good fishing trip to Michigan, Wisconsin, or Tennessee. The location wasn't as important to Don, as was who the trip was with. Don's most cherished times in his life have been spent on the North Carolina coast with his immediate and extended family, which became the place he took his final vacation. Don passed away at a place he loved, surrounded by those who mean the most to him.
