KAZAKOS CHRIST Of Penn Hills, died peacefully on Thursday, August 24, 2017, at the age of 86. He was born in Ambridge on April 20, 1931, and was the son of the late Steve and late Anna Kazakos; devoted husband of Effie Kazakos for 58 years; loving father of Ann (Michael Duggan) Kazakos of Rochester, NY, George (Paula) Kazakos of York, PA and Christine (Burnette) Elam of Richmond, VA; proud grandfather of Alexis and Nicholas Duggan of Rochester, NY, Ashley and Lori Kazakos of York, PA and Lindsey and James Elam of Richmond, VA; brother of James Kazakos of Los Angeles, CA. Christ graduated from Ambridge High School in 1949 and the University of Pittsburgh with a degree in Chemistry. Christ served two years in the US Army Military Police during the Korean War. He worked at the Atomic plant in Shippingport, which was the world's first full-scale atomic electric power plant devoted exclusively to peacetime. He then worked at US Steel plant in Duquesne as well as Pittsburgh Testing laboratory. He later served as a consultant for Bognar and company. He was an active member of Y.A.S.O.U. where he enjoyed the many trips that they took together. He was also enjoyed the many cruises that he took with his wife and friends. He also took pleasure in going to Atlantic City, where he was fond of the craps table. He was a member of the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church Ypapanti in East Pittsburgh. Friends welcome at PATRICK LANIGAN FUNERAL HOME, 700 Linden Avenue, East Pittsburgh on Monday, August 28, 2017, from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 p.m., with a Trisagion Service at 7:30 p.m. Christ's Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017, at the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church Ypapanti in East Pittsburgh at 10 a.m. Additional viewing will be in Church, one-half hour before the service. Christ will then be laid to rest with Military Honors in Monongahela Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Presentation of Christ Greek Orthodox Church.
