MATUS LARAINE M. Age 76, of Apex, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at Duke Medical Center in Durham. She was born June 9, 1941 in Coraopolis, PA a daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Egley) Kozar. Laraine and her husband, Jerry owned and operated a restaurant called the Village Dairy in Moon Township, PA. She also worked as a secretary in real estate and automotive business before her retirement. They moved to Apex about six years ago after retiring from the Pittsburgh area. Laraine enjoyed shopping, cooking, reading, cruising, and was an avid Steelers fan. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Laraine was preceded by her husband, Gerald Edward Matus in 2015. She is survived by her sons, Edward Matus and wife, Lori, of Cary, NC and Kevin Matus and wife, Cindy, of Perrysburg, OH; her daughter, Shari Matus of Claridge, PA; her grandchildren, Bradley McElhaney, Chris Schmidt (Emily) and Nolan Matus; her siblings, Joe Kozar, Janet Brown and Marilyn Dinell as well as many family and friends. Family will receive friends on Thursday afternoon, July 13, 2017 from 4-6 p.m. at APEX FUNERAL HOME. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org.
