FUNK JOHN JOSEPH Died peacefully in his home surrounded by his wife and daughters, on the afternoon of May 17, 2017, from cancer. He was 64. John is survived by his wife and best friend of 44 years, Linda Funk (Crawshaw); four daughters, Jennifer Lach of Pittsburgh, Melissa Williamson of Charleston, S.C., Lynne Funk Posner and Emily Funk, both of Brooklyn, N.Y. John also has three little darlings, his granddaughters, Isabella Lach, Sophia Lach, and Nora Williamson. He is also survived by sons-in-law, Sean Lach, Matthew Posner, Stewart Williamson; and soon-to-be son-in-law, Jake Reinus. He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Crawshaw, of Pittsburgh. Born in the North Side of Pittsburgh, John was one of 14 children. His parents, Anthony and Dorothy Funk, had ten girls and four boys, and John was number ten. A tireless worker for his entire life, he began as a young man, working at his father's store, John J. Funk & Sons, on East Ohio Street. John became a Union Carpenter and built many structures around Pittsburgh homes, the Pittsburgh Convention Center, the LeMont Restaurant, among others. Woodworking was his unique talent. His home, and many others, is filled with his personal, beautiful touches. What he built the best was his family and a group of countless friends who witnessed what a generous, loving and big-hearted person he was. John loved hunting, fishing, camping and being outdoors. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and teacher of many things. He will be greatly missed. No visitation. Arrangements by Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home, 412-321-0495.
