NORRIS DAVID CLARK Age 89, formerly of Glenshaw, PA, passed away peacefully May 26, 2016, at Keystone Villa, Douglassville, PA. Born to Ben C. and Emma Morgan Norris in New Milford, PA, David married his beloved Dorie (Doris Selman Norris) on April 30,1955. With Dorie, he lovingly raised three daughters, Barbara E. Norris (Scarborough, ME), Lisa N. Traugott (Peter, Oley, PA), and Amy N. Reynertson (John, Geneva, IL). He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, Ian, Jack, David, Katie and Scott. Dorie died in August 2006. Two brothers, Charles M. Norris, Sr., and Paul M. Norris, Sr., also preceded him in death. David is survived by his siblings, Janet N. Williams and Ralph B. Norris. He treasured close bonds with each of his brothers, his dear sister, and his many nieces and nephews. David was Valedictorian of the New Milford High School class of 1944 and then served in the U.S. Army (1945-1946). After matriculating at Penn State, he enrolled at Temple University Medical School, where he earned his degree in 1952. Upon completing his intern training in 1954, David was a physician with Westinghouse in Pittsburgh, PA. He soon established his own general practice in the area; sometimes he took a young daughter on house calls. He later specialized in psychiatry, his focus for the majority of his career. David retired in 2010 after 57 years in practice and over 50 years on the staff at West Penn Hospital. Medicine was his true calling. This gifted healer gladly tended to all in need of care, with compassion and respect. A gentle man who preferred to stay behind the scenes, David took pleasure in simple things like singing in choir, gardening, and other outdoor activities, stargazing, reading poetry, and playing cards and games with his family. His involvement and closeness with his church family brought him joy. He loved attending music and theatrical productions, and especially time with family and friends. He and Dorie also enjoyed traveling together. Husband, Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle Dave, Doctor Dave, Mentor, Neighbor, Friend, he was beloved by all. His legacy is simple: Be guided by faith and integrity; serve with love and kindness. Take delight in the wonders of the every day.
