KEDDIE ROLAND T., M.D., J.D. Age 87, a longtime resident of Cecil, PA, passed away at home, peacefully surrounded by his family on May 22, 2016, from complications of heart failure. He was born October 21, 1928, in Altoona, PA, the younger son of Jessie Keddie. Dr. Keddie graduated form the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor of Science, Doctor of Medicine from the School of Medicine in 1957, and Juris Doctor from the School of Law in 1970. He was a US Navy veteran, having proudly served in WWII and the Korean Conflict, primarily aboard the USS Bairoko. Dr. Keddie built a successful general medicine practice in Irwin and North Huntingdon, Westmoreland County. In the late 1960s, Dr. Keddie continued practicing medicine while attending law school full-time. After admission to the Pennsylvania Bar, Dr. Keddie practiced both medicine and law for many years. Dr. Keddie was highly regarded as a lecturer and instructor for Emergency Medical Services and served on numerous local and state medical boards. Dr. Keddie was acknowledged by his peers as a pioneer in trauma medicine. He served as the director of multiple emergency departments in Western PA, and was instrumental in the passage of the original Pennsylvania seat belt legislation. He was a lifetime member of the Allegheny County Medical Society. Dr. Keddie was a recognized expert witness on medical and legal issues. He had been a member of the Bar Associations of Allegheny and Westmoreland Counties, PA, and he was a member of the Pennsylvania State Bar until he retired from the practice of law in the late 1990s. Dr. Keddie also founded the Chartiers Valley Medical Center of Bridgeville, PA in 1983, which he operated until his retirement in 2001. In addition to his professional achievements, he was an avid sportsman, woodworker, and mentor to youth 4-H Clubs. Dr. Keddie was predeceased by his mother, Jessie; his brother, Harvey; and one of his six sons, Kevin Keddie. He is survived by his wife, Suzanne; three daughters, Karen Keddie, Rosemary Keddie, Dawn Keddie (Aaron Riley); five surviving sons, Chip Keddie (Stella), Tom Keddie (Susan), Rob Keddie, Mike Keddie (Debbie), and Andy Keddie (Paula). Dr. Keddie is also survived by 13 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Arrangements by BEINHAUERS.
