KOSACK ERNEST "SHORTY" T. Of Sewickley, passed away on Sat., April 23, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was six feet tall, and enjoyed the ironic nickname "Shorty". He was the son of the late Edward and Martha Kosack and grew up on four spacious acres in Glenfield. He was married for 32 years to the late Virginia "Puffy" Pisano Kosack, who passed away in 2000. Shorty was also preceded in death by his parents, seven sisters, and two brothers. Shorty loved his Country and served as an infantryman in the Army during the Korean War. He was very proud of his military service, and he marched every year in Sewickley's Memorial Day Parade. Shorty will be truly missed during this year's parade. Shorty spent his career as a successful professional painting contractor. Additionally, he was well-known in the local area for his work at the annual Christmas tree sales lot at the corner of Chestnut and Thorn Streets in Sewickley. He loved the village of Sewickley and was fond of local events, notably the YMCA Senior Men's Club meetings. Shorty will be greatly missed by his beloved partner, Carol Hazlett. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Anderson, a sister- in-law, Mary Stinson. He was the proud uncle of many dear nieces and nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the COPELAND SEWICKLEY FUNERAL HOME, 702 Beaver St. Everyone is to meet for a Mass of Christian Burial Wed. at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, 200 Walnut St., Sewickley, PA, with Rev. Thomas J. Burke Celebrant. Full Military Honors will be performed in the Church parking lot following the Mass.
