
BLACKHURST JACK W. Age 91, of Valencia, formerly of Moon Township, a gentleman in every sense of the word, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Heritage Valley Sewickley. He was born on April 11, 1924, in Washington, PA, he was son of the late Homer and Gertrude (Murray) Blackhurst. On March 3, 2013, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis (Fisher) Blackhurst; loving father of Wendy A. (Richard) Brabson, Retired Col. Jack L. (Andrea) Blackhurst, and the late Iris Blackhurst; cherished grandfather of Leslie (Michael) Saenz, Jeremy (Cindy) Blackhurst, Tammy (Larry) Sedley, and Ricky Brabson, Jr.; proud great- grandfather of Andrew, Alexander, Sydney, Haley, Danica and Sawyer; brother-in-law of Jackie and Bob Pfaub of Valencia; brother of the late Mildred Kramer, Grace Findlay, Geraldine Turner and John D. Blackhurst; uncle of the late Judy Madler. Jack retired in 1989 from J & L Steel (LTV Aliquippa Works) with 41 years of service. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Sgt. during WWII, stationed in England and France. He was a staunch member of the Coraopolis United Methodist Church and Methodist Men. He will be remembered for his kind and quiet spirit and his gentle smile. A Memorial Service will be held at the Coraopolis United Methodist Church, 1205 Ridge Ave., Coraopolis, PA 15108 on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. Rev. Tracy Cox will officiate.
